What is Vista Weight Loss?
Vista Weight Loss is a medical weight management practice serving Northern Illinois and Lake County. Most of what it offers is bariatric surgery: gastric bypass, sleeve gastrectomy, adjustable gastric banding, duodenal switch and SADI-S, plus revisional operations. Its non-surgical program, Vista's Weight Management Options, lists a very low calorie diet (VLCD), a low calorie diet (LCD), weight management classes and weight loss medications. It also offers a non-surgical gastric balloon, placed in the stomach and removed after about six months.
In its own words: "Weight loss medications will be prescribed as part of any of the Vista’s Weight Management Options Program, as long as it is medically necessary."
Aaron Siegel, MD, is a board-certified general surgeon who has performed bariatric surgery at Vista Medical Center East since 2004. Janine Pruett coordinates the bariatric program and handles nutrition assessments. Roberta Maller Hartman leads the bariatric support groups and weight management classes. Stacey Van Zeyl, an exercise physiologist, works out of the Lindenhurst location.
What does it cost?
It does not publish prices for the program, the medications or the balloon. The first step is a free private consultation. It does not say whether it accepts insurance, whether the medication is included in a program fee, or what membership terms and cancellation look like. It does mention providing a letter of medical necessity to support a reimbursement appeal, so insurance may come up, but ask before you assume either way.
What should you ask before you book?
Ask who writes the weight loss prescription. It does not say which clinician prescribes weight loss medication, so ask whether Dr. Siegel writes it or someone else does. It also does not name a specific medication, so ask which one would be used and whether it is brand-name or compounded.
Ask whether the monthly program fee covers the medication or whether it is billed separately. Ask what follow-up visits and lab work cost, and whether the free consultation can be done by video, since telehealth is not stated. Ask whether the practice takes your insurance and how the medical necessity letter works. Ask how cancellation works and whether there is a term you must commit to.
No street address is published, so ask for the address of the location you would attend. Some material refers to a weight loss program at Crossroads Community Hospital under a different name, so confirm which name and location your booking falls under.
Who is it a good fit for?
This is a good fit if you live in Northern Illinois or Lake County and want a non-surgical option from a practice whose main work is bariatric surgery, with that surgical team in the same practice. If you need published prices or a named medication before you call, the consultation is still worth calling about, and the questions above are where to start.

We have not yet collected published prices or prescriber credentials for this clinic. When we do, they will appear here with a link to the page they came from — or a note saying the clinic publishes none, which is itself worth knowing. Call them for a price in the meantime.
