What is The Luminary?

The Luminary is a medical aesthetic studio at 8305 N Allen Rd, Suite #6, in Peoria, Illinois. Google lists it as a medical spa, and most of what it offers is aesthetic: Botox and Dysport, filler, Sculptra, microneedling, chemical peels, HydraFacial MD, facials, BroadBand Light photofacials and PRF under eye rejuvenation. It also runs a Clinical Weight Loss Program that prescribes semaglutide and tirzepatide. That program is the part most relevant if you are looking for medical weight loss care.

Lyndsie founded the studio and leads the weight loss program. It describes her as a nurse practitioner with years of experience in medical weight loss, but it gives only her first name. Its team has over 45 years of combined experience within the medical field. The studio has a rating of 5 on Google from 356 reviews. Hours are Tuesday to Thursday 9:00 to 7:00, Friday 9:00 to 3:00, closed Monday, and every other Saturday 9:00 to 3:00 by appointment only.

The weight loss program starts with a consultation, and a prescription follows if you are a candidate. Medication is shipped to the clinic or directly to your home. Monthly virtual check-ins are included, along with required three-month check-ins that can be virtual or in person.

What does it cost?

Weight loss medication starts at $199 for semaglutide and $249 for tirzepatide. It does not say whether those are monthly prices or per vial prices. Each vial is meant to last about 4 to 6 weeks, and vial size and price rise with dose. The new patient consultation is $99.

In its own words: "Patients do not select their vial size. Your provider will determine the appropriate vial based on your prescribed dose."

The Glow Society membership is $199 a month, charged to a card on file on the 1st and deposited into a Beauty Bank for treatments and products. Members get 10% off treatments and products. Membership requires a six-month minimum, and it cannot be canceled before that term ends. It does not say whether the membership applies to the weight loss program.

What should you ask before you book?

Ask for Lyndsie's full name and credentials, since only her first name is published, and ask whether she writes every prescription. Ask whether the starting prices are per month or per vial, and what one month would cost at the dose you are prescribed. Ask whether the medication is brand name or compounded, because it does not say. Ask what labs cost, since labs may be ordered, and whether the three-month check-ins carry a fee. Ask whether the program price covers injection supplies and follow-up visits, and how to cancel the weight loss program, since no term is stated for it. If you join the Glow Society, ask whether its Beauty Bank can be used toward the weight loss program.

Who is it a good fit for?

This is a good fit if you want weight loss medication prescribed by a nurse practitioner at a studio where you can also get injectables and skin treatments, and you are ready to ask the cost questions above before you book. If you are looking for a practice that is mainly medical weight loss, this is not one.
