What is Innovative Care?
Innovative Care is a medical group in Chicago. It started in 2015 with one urgent care at Ashland and Fullerton and now offers primary care, urgent care and therapy from several offices on the Northside. It says its in-person appointments serve residents of Lincoln Park, Old Town, Lakeview, Bucktown, Wicker Park, North Center, Logan Square, Roscoe Village, Avondale and more. Every office it names is in Chicago.
Weight loss is the service it promotes most heavily. It says its Chicago medical providers prescribe Mounjaro, Zepbound, Ozempic and Wegovy, and it also lists a Wegovy Pill and a Foundayo Pill. Its prescribers include physicians, osteopathic doctors, nurse practitioners and physician assistants, among them Steven Broderick, MD, Farah Ahmed, DO and Jenna Benoit, PA-C. Its service list also includes peptides, ADHD care, video visits and a MedSpa. It does not list hormone therapy. Innovative Vitality is its membership program for longevity medicine and health optimization, and it includes weight loss and coaching.
This listing is for its Chicago office at 2363 N. California Ave.
What does it cost?
Innovative Primary Care has no membership and takes insurance, self-pay or a mix of the two. Zepbound starts at $299 a month. The Wegovy Pill and the Foundayo Pill each start at $149 a month. The Wegovy pen starts at $199 a month for the first two months, then rises to $349 a month. Its weight loss information also gives a second set of self-pay prices, with Zepbound at $349 a month for its lowest dose and Wegovy at $499 a month. It does not say which set applies.
Innovative Vitality is membership based. Membership starts at $250 a month, and insurance co-pays and deductibles are on top of that. It does not publish the full cost. A refill requires an appointment, and the self-pay price for that visit is $100. It does not publish a first-visit or consultation fee, and it does not say whether the monthly figures include the medication.
What should you ask before you book?
Ask which provider will sign your prescription. If you choose the first available appointment, your provider is assigned at the time of the visit, so ask whether you can choose one in advance.
Ask whether the medication is brand name or compounded. Its main weight loss information says that if insurance denies coverage, it will offer compound semaglutide or compound tirzepatide. Get the answer in writing before you pay.
Ask what the monthly fee covers, including the medication, the visits and the labs. Ask what labs and follow-up cost on self-pay, since Innovative Vitality asks members to use insurance for labs. It does not publish membership cancellation terms, so ask how to cancel and whether there is a minimum period. Peptides appear on its service list, but it does not describe what that involves. It does not publish hours.
In its own words: "Your first weight loss appointment will be via telemedicine for your convenience." Patients must live in Illinois to use it, and every in-person office is in Chicago.
Who is it a good fit for?
This is a good fit if you live in Illinois, want GLP weight loss, and are comfortable starting with a video visit or can get to a Chicago office. It is worth calling if you want to confirm which medication and which price apply before you book. The Innovative Vitality membership suits people who can pay at least $250 a month on top of insurance costs.
