What is The Skin Apothecary?
The Skin Apothecary is a medical spa at 11104 W State St in Star, Idaho. Most of what it does is aesthetic work: cosmetic injections, laser treatments, skin services, lashes and brows, massage, and memberships. Weight management and peptide therapy are two more of its nine listed services, and they sit beside that work rather than defining it.
In its own words: "a small, privately owned business that offers medical aesthetic services and weight loss to our patients under the direction of a local licensed medical director." The owner is Shawna Biava, and the practice has been open since 2021. The team is described as including nurse practitioners, licensed estheticians and laser technicians. No prescriber is named, and the medical director is not named either.
The weight management page lists a GLP-1 injection, a "Skinny Shot" with methionine, inositol, choline and vitamin B12, B12 injections, and Lipo BC tablets. The gallery names tirzepatide for its weight loss injections. The peptide page names Melanotan II, PT-141, sermorelin and tesamorelin. Google lists it as a medical spa with a 4.9 rating from 49 reviews.
What does it cost?
It does not publish prices for weight management or peptide therapy. Its published prices are for the spa side: body contouring at $100 per area, Dye-VL (IPL) and Clearlift from $249, laser skin and scar resurfacing from $750, plasma skin resurfacing from $1000, and brow microblading at $550.
Memberships run $99, $149 or $199 a month. Each adds that amount to a "beauty bank" balance you can spend on services, plus 5%, 7% or 10% off treatments and products. All require a 6 month commitment. The consultation is listed as free, and the VIP rewards program offers $25 off services of $150 or more. No price states whether medication is included, and insurance acceptance is not stated.
What should you ask before you book?
Who writes the prescription, and what is the medical director's name and license? Ask whether a nurse practitioner or the medical director reviews your history and signs off on any medication.
Does the monthly fee include the medication, or is it billed separately? Ask what visits, follow-up and lab work cost on top of it.
Is the tirzepatide, and any other injection, brand-name or compounded? Ask who supplies it and which pharmacy fills it.
Can the beauty bank balance pay toward weight or peptide care? If you cancel during the 6 month commitment, what happens to the balance and the fee?
Do they bill insurance, and is a telehealth visit possible? Neither is stated.
Who is it a good fit for?
This is a good fit if you want aesthetic treatments and a weight or peptide program under one roof, and you are willing to confirm the prescriber, the medication and the total cost before you pay. It is less suited to you if you need a named prescriber, a published price for weight care, or insurance billing before you commit.
