About Oahu Weight Loss

What is Oahu Weight Loss?

Oahu Weight Loss is a medical and surgical weight loss clinic at 1380 Lusitana Street, Suite 1009, Honolulu, HI 96813. Its main work is weight loss. It offers medical weight loss with semaglutide and tirzepatide, each as an injection or a sublingual (under-the-tongue) form, plus surgical weight loss with laparoscopic Roux-en-Y gastric bypass and laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy, and general surgery. The only prescriber named is Cedric Lorenzo, MD.

The practice puts its team's experience at over 20 years in medical and surgical weight loss. Its medications are compounded by a Hawaii-licensed pharmacy it works with. Ozempic, Wegovy, Mounjaro and Zepbound are brand names for the same main ingredients, but a compounded version comes from a pharmacy, not the brand maker, so ask which product you would receive. Visits can be in person or by telehealth. Hours are Monday through Thursday, 9am to 4:30pm, and Friday, 9am to 2pm, and the office is closed most major holidays.

What does it cost?

Medical weight loss is priced monthly. Injectable semaglutide is $400 a month, and sublingual semaglutide starts at $400. Injectable tirzepatide is $500 a month, and sublingual tirzepatide starts at $500. The semaglutide price includes the medication, visits in person or by telehealth, injection supplies, and access to its doctors and pharmacists. The first consultation is free and is booked through an interest form.

Medical weight loss is cash pay only. In its own words: "we do not accept insurance." Surgical prices are not published, and the team will check whether surgery is covered by your insurance plan. It does not publish lab, follow-up or financing costs. On shipped medication, its policy is: "all sales are final once your medication has been shipped from the pharmacy."

What should you ask before you book?

Ask who signs your prescription and whether Dr. Lorenzo reviews your care. Ask which compounding pharmacy fills your order, and whether the tirzepatide price includes visits and supplies the way the semaglutide price does. Ask whether the monthly price changes if your dose changes, and get the exact monthly figure for a sublingual form, since the listed prices start at $400 and $500.

Ask which states telehealth covers, what lab work and follow-up cost, and how to cancel a monthly plan. Ask what happens to a shipment you have already paid for, given the final-sale policy. If you are considering surgery, ask the full cost of the one to three month pre-surgery phase with its bariatrician, psychologist, dietician and surgeon, and whether your plan will pay for it. The office number is 808-379-0044.

Who is it a good fit for?

This is a good fit if you are paying out of pocket for medical weight loss, want a named prescriber, and are comfortable with a compounded medication and a final-sale policy on shipments. It is a harder fit if you need surgical prices before your first call, or if you expect to return a shipment that has already gone out.
