About Independence Wellness

What is Independence Wellness?

Independence Wellness is a private, membership-based practice in Port St. Lucie, Florida, with limited scheduling in Stuart. Its main offer is concierge primary and urgent care. Weight management, hormone therapy and longevity medicine sit alongside it, so this is closer to a primary care office with programs than to a weight loss clinic.

Steven Parr, D.O., FACEP, FAAEM founded the practice. He is a board-certified physician with more than two decades of frontline medical experience. Francesca Panko, APRN, FNP-BC is a nurse practitioner with more than fifteen years in medicine who focuses on women's health, hormone therapy and medical weight management. Both are listed as prescribers.

The rest of the services are regenerative therapies, aesthetic and laser treatments, IV therapy, and telemedicine, which is offered to established patients across Florida. Its membership page also names peptide therapy among its dedicated programs, though the main service list does not.

What does it cost?

It does not publish prices or a consultation fee. Membership terms are reviewed at the initial consultation. Visits, procedures and programs are billed at the time of service. Urgent care is also available to non-members on a fee-for-service basis during regular hours.

It does not bill insurance. In its own words: "We are a private-pay practice and do not bill insurance for our services." Patients with commercial insurance can ask for an itemized superbill to submit for any out-of-network reimbursement their plan allows.

What should you ask before you book?

Ask who signs your prescription and which of the two prescribers will handle your care. Ask whether a program fee includes the medication, because the practice does not say. Ask which medications the weight program uses and whether any are compounded instead of brand-name FDA-approved, since it names none. Ask for the consultation fee, the membership fee and what membership covers.

Ask what follow-up visits and lab work cost, since its advanced lab panels are not priced. Ask how a membership is cancelled. Ask for the office hours, because none are listed, and for the days the Stuart office is open. Ask whether a first visit can be by telemedicine, since that option is listed for established patients only.

Who is it a good fit for?

This is a good fit if you are ready to pay directly for physician-led primary care and the programs alongside it, and you want to know exactly who will prescribe for you. If you need a published price list or a fixed monthly figure before booking, ask for them on the phone at (772) 773-5309.
