About First Coast M.D.

What is First Coast M.D.?

First Coast M.D. is a medical weight loss clinic at 9550 Baymeadows Road in Jacksonville, Florida, in the Southside and Baymeadows area. It has been open in Jacksonville since 2008. Its office hours are Monday through Friday, 7:30am to 5:00pm, and the phone number is (904)730.5115.

Weight loss is the main service. The clinic offers an Adipex and phentermine program, a GLP-1 weight loss program, and Lipo + B12 injections. Its menu also lists NAD+, but no details are given. The GLP-1 medications it names are Wegovy (as a pill or an injection), Zepbound, Foundayo (as a pill) and Saxenda. Hormone therapy and peptide therapy are not among its listed services.

No prescriber is named. The clinic describes its weight loss care as given by doctors, nurse practitioners, physician assistants and nurses. Google reviews give it a 4.8 rating from 953 reviews.

What does it cost?

Consultations are free. The GLP-1 program starts at $149 a month, as low as that figure goes, for patients whose insurance does not cover the medication or who have no insurance. The clinic does not say whether that price includes the medication. For brand Wegovy or Zepbound paid in cash, it lists prices as low as $199 for a month supply of four weekly injections. Compounded semaglutide or tirzepatide is listed as low as $150 for a two month supply of eight injections. A first month at $180, including injections, is also offered.

The phentermine program is $80 for one month, and the clinic puts phentermine alone at around $15 a month. A single Lipo + B12 injection is $25. The clinic accepts insurance. For employer plans it will handle prior authorization for GLP-1 coverage, and it offers a free benefits check when you book a GLP-1 Insurance Verification appointment. Among the plans its patients use, it names Blue Cross, Aetna, Cigna and CVS Caremark. It does not publish financing, HSA, membership or cancellation terms.

What should you ask before you book?

Ask who will write your prescription. No prescriber is named, so ask for the name and credentials of the person who signs it, and whether you will see the same one each month.

Ask whether the $149 monthly price includes the medication, and which medication you would receive at that price. In its own words: "Our office uses all of the real GLP-1 medications (not compounded) such as Wegovy Pill, Wegovy Injection, Zepbound and Foundayo Pill." The same clinic also offers compounded semaglutide and tirzepatide, so ask which one you would be given and get the answer in writing.

Ask what follow-up visits and lab work cost, since neither fee is published. Ask whether visits can be done by video, because telehealth is not mentioned. Ask how cancellation works and whether there is a minimum term. If you are interested in NAD+, ask what it involves and what it costs, since it appears only as a menu item.

Who is it a good fit for?

This is a good fit if you want an in-person visit in Jacksonville, your employer plan might cover a GLP-1 medication, and you want the office to check coverage before you pay. It is a weaker fit if you need a named prescriber, or a written price for the medication, before your first visit.
