About CoreHealth Direct Primary Care

What is CoreHealth Direct Primary Care?

CoreHealth Direct Primary Care is a direct primary care clinic at 1101 Gulf Breeze Parkway, Bldg 2, Unit 3, in Gulf Breeze, Florida. Its core work is membership primary care, and weight loss is one service among several. It lists primary care and sick visits, chronic condition management (including menopause), injection visits, medications dispensed onsite, and health coaching with weight loss. It also offers wholesale labs, limited-date onsite ultrasound, and office, virtual and home visits.

Prescribers are Larissa Coffey, APRN, FNP, FNP-C, MSN, who owns the practice; Nicolle Hawley, APRN, FNP, FNP-C, MSN; and Faith McGowen, APRN, FNP-C, MSN. Larissa lists 19 years as a Registered Nurse and Nurse Practitioner. The clinic has a Google rating of 5 from 52 reviews.

What does it cost?

Enrollment is a $75 fee per person. The monthly membership is $75 for adults and for children aged 0 to 2, and $50 for children aged 3 to 17. Families of four or more are capped at $225 a month. There is no contract, and you may leave at any time. Coming back costs a $75 re-enrollment fee. Visits are cash pay, since the clinic does not process insurance for them. The first step is a free 15 minute consultation.

Nonmembers pay $99 for a sick or virtual visit, $240 for an adult annual physical, and $275 for a concierge physical at your workplace or home. A child annual physical is $79, and a child sports or school physical is $49. Onsite labs are billed separately, with a $6 fee per draw, a $60 annual physical lab bundle, and $10 for a TSH or thyroid panel. In its own words: "Pricing will vary based on the wholesaler." It does not publish medication prices. It does not say whether weight loss medication is included in membership.

What should you ask before you book?

Ask which weight loss medications are dispensed and whether each one is brand name, generic or compounded, since the clinic does not say. Ask the monthly cost of each and whether any of it is covered by membership. Ask who writes and signs the prescription, and whether the same clinician handles follow-up. Ask what follow-up labs will cost once a medication starts.

Ask about hours. The contact page lists Monday through Thursday, 7:00 to 5:00, while the services page lists 8AM to 4PM for nonmember visits. The office is closed on Friday, and urgent needs go by text to your provider. Ask how the family figures work, since the pricing page shows both a $225 cap and a $65 monthly figure for families of four or more.

Who is it a good fit for?

This is a good fit if you want an ongoing primary care relationship on a flat monthly fee, you are comfortable paying separately for medication and labs, and you have or plan to have other coverage for hospital, specialist and imaging care. In its own words: "A CoreHealth membership is not a form or replacement for health insurance." It also encourages a catastrophic or emergency plan alongside membership. It is a weaker fit if you are looking for a named weight loss medication or hormone therapy beyond menopause care, because the clinic does not name either.
