About Boca General & Family Medicine

What is Boca General & Family Medicine?

Boca General & Family Medicine is a primary care practice with a concierge membership, at 1500 NW 10th Ave, 101, Boca Raton, FL 33486. It is open Monday through Thursday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM and Friday until 4:30 PM, and closed on weekends. Most of its work is primary care for patients aged 16 and older, including chronic disease management, annual wellness exams, urgent care and in-office labs. Hormone therapy, peptide therapy and weight loss are three of its services, and they are the ones most likely to be paid for out of pocket.

William Rowland, MD, who is board certified in family medicine and sports medicine, leads the practice. He works with Michelle Feffer, ARNP; Daniela Olivera-Parente, APRN; Austin Veith, PA-C; and Arthur Strappazzon, PA-C. The practice has a Google rating of 4.7 from 755 reviews.

For weight loss, it uses GLP-1 medications along with lifestyle changes. It says it typically considers them for adults with a BMI over 30, or over 27 with a weight-related condition such as high blood pressure, diabetes or sleep apnea. Its hormone therapy is for adults with moderate to severe symptoms of a hormone imbalance, given as pills, patches, gels, injections or a pellet placed under the skin.

What does it cost?

The consultation is free, which the practice calls a "Free Confidential Consultation." Its concierge membership is an annual plan at $2,000 for an individual, $1,800 per person for a couple, and $1,600 for each additional family member. Discounts apply only when all family members enroll at the same time. The membership entitles members to certain non-covered services and amenities, and the practice may adjust the fee for a renewal year with written notice.

It does not publish prices for weight loss, hormone or peptide care, and it does not say whether medication is included. It says it accepts most insurance providers. In its own words: "Please note we do not accept self-pay patients." Those two statements do not explain how cash-pay care works for these services.

What should you ask before you book?

Ask who signs the prescription for GLP-1 medications, hormones and peptides. Ask whether the membership fee includes any medication, and what the medication costs on its own. Ask whether the hormones and peptides are brand-name or compounded, since it does not say. The peptide page describes IV therapy, so ask which form you would receive and what it costs. Ask what follow-up visits and blood work cost, and whether telehealth is offered for these services. Ask how the membership is canceled and whether any part of the fee is refunded. Ask how insurance would apply to the specific visit you want.

Who is it a good fit for?

This is a good fit if you are 16 or older, live in or around Boca Raton, want primary care and cash-pay services under one roof, and can pay a membership fee plus any medication cost. It is a weaker fit if you need the full price before you book, since the weight loss, hormone and peptide prices are not published. Call 561-391-2708 to ask the questions above.
