About Optimal Male TRT

What is Optimal Male TRT?

Optimal Male TRT PLLC is a men's health practice at 3 Barnard Lane, Suite 108, in Bloomfield, Connecticut. Its phone number is (860) 458-2024. Testosterone replacement is its main service, and it also lists erectile dysfunction, performance enhancement and medical weight loss.

The weight loss program uses GLP-1 medications. The clinic names semaglutide and tirzepatide, and lists the brand names Wegovy and Zepbound. Follow-up visits can be done by phone or telelink. Its testosterone service covers all of Connecticut, and it names nine towns in its service area, from Avon to Manchester.

It does not name the clinician who prescribes, list office hours, or say how long it has been open. Its Google listing shows a rating of 5 from 12 reviews.

What does it cost?

The initial visit costs $199. An initial lab panel at $99 may be required before the weight loss program starts. The weight loss program adds a $100 monthly maintenance fee, and follow-up visits every 2 months cost $99 each. The monthly fee is on top of the medication, which is priced separately. Wegovy is $499 for all doses. Zepbound is $349 for the 2.5 mg single-dose vial and $499 for the 5 mg, 7.5 mg and 10 mg vials.

The clinic does not publish prices for testosterone medication or its testosterone membership. Members of that membership have the maintenance fee and visits waived. It does not state cancellation terms for the weight loss program. In its own words: "Optimal Male TRT does not accept insurance." All of this is cash pay, and the clinic does not mention HSA or financing.

What should you ask before you book?

Ask who writes the prescription and what their credentials are. Ask for the price of the testosterone medication and the membership in writing, and ask which medication it is, since the clinic does not name it. For weight loss, ask whether you would get brand-name Wegovy or Zepbound or a compounded version, because the program describes compounded formulas too, and what each one costs.

Ask what lab work is required and what follow-up labs cost. Testosterone patients have lab draws every three months. Ask what screening happens before a prescription, since the clinic lists conditions that rule out testosterone therapy. Finally, ask how you cancel the weight loss program, and get the cancellation terms in writing.

Who is it a good fit for?

This is a good fit if you are paying cash for testosterone therapy or medical weight loss, can cover the $199 first visit and the monthly fees, and want the prescriber, medication prices and cancellation terms in writing before you book. It is less suited to you if you need insurance billing, since the clinic takes none.
