About Abbey Aesthetics

What is Abbey Aesthetics?

Abbey Aesthetics is a laser and cosmetic medicine practice at 701 Cottage Grove Road, Building E, Suite 210, in Bloomfield, Connecticut. It has been providing treatments since 2005. Barbara Padilla, M.D., is listed as medical director. Most of its work is cosmetic and laser treatment: laser hair removal, laser vein removal, laser resurfacing, IPL, hyperhidrosis treatment, Botox, dermal fillers, Kybella, PRP therapy, vaginal rejuvenation, and laser tattoo removal. Medical weight loss is one of its services. It does not list hormone therapy among them.

The weight loss service uses the Optifast program. In its own words: "We use the Optifast® Program (Nestle Health Science) which is a medical weight loss approach only available through hospitals or physician practices." The program is described as physician-supervised and typically lasts 26 weeks. It begins with a medical exam and any needed lab tests, uses a full Optifast meal replacement plan during the active phase, and includes support afterward. The office is open Monday to Friday, 9:00AM to 5:00PM, at (860) 242-0497. It has a 4.8 rating on Google from 70 reviews.

What does it cost?

The $150 consultation fee is currently complimentary. Some prices are published. Laser Genesis skin therapy is $395 per treatment, or $1,695 for a package of six. Kybella is $700 per vial, and Juvederm is $750 per syringe. Hyperhidrosis treatment is $2,750 per treatment, and Juliet vaginal rejuvenation is $1,000 per treatment. Photo Genesis IPL starts at $165, and laser vein treatment averages $275 for the face and $415 for the legs. Botox and tattoo removal are priced during the consultation.

The practice does not publish a price for medical weight loss. It does not say whether the meal plan is included in any price. It offers monthly payment plans through CareCredit. It does not say whether it accepts insurance.

What should you ask before you book?

Ask who supervises your weight loss plan and who signs any prescription. The practice names Barbara Padilla, M.D., as medical director, but it does not say who prescribes for the weight loss program. Ask whether the Optifast meal plan is included in the program price, and what the full 26-week program costs, including lab work and follow-up visits. Ask whether the practice accepts insurance, and whether any part of the care can be done by telehealth, which the practice does not address. For a prepaid package or a payment plan, ask how cancellation and refunds work before you sign.

Who is it a good fit for?

This is a good fit if you are looking for laser, skin, or injectable treatment and you live near Bloomfield. For weight loss, the answer depends on the questions above, especially who supervises the plan and what it costs in total.
