What is Vail Health?
Vail Health is a nonprofit health care system serving Eagle and Summit counties in Colorado. Its core business is hospital and medical care, including a 56-bed hospital in Vail, 24/7 emergency care, surgery, cancer care, primary care and behavioral health. Weight loss and hormone care are part of that larger practice, not a separate clinic. The main phone number is (970) 476-2451.
The network has nearly 300 physicians across Avon, Basalt, Beaver Creek, Breckenridge, Dillon, Eagle, Edwards, Frisco, Gypsum and Vail. Colorado Mountain Medical is one of its partners. Dr. Rebecca Adochio, an endocrinologist there, has prescribed GLP-1 medications for decades and treats obesity as part of patient care, not only diabetes. The GLP-1 medications named on its pages are semaglutide (Ozempic, Wegovy), tirzepatide (Mounjaro, Zepbound) and Rybelsus.
Besides Dr. Adochio, the clinicians named as prescribers are Dr. Melissa O’Meara, MD, medical director of Vail Health Concierge Medicine; Eliza Klearman, ND; Lilia Brown, FNP-BC, FNP-C, IFMCP, NP; Dr. Jennifer Bettenhausen, MD, who prescribes compounded topical creams; and Dr. Melvin Stjernholm.
What does it cost?
It does not publish prices. It does not publish a consultation fee or a program or membership fee, and it does not say whether medication is included. It does not say whether it accepts insurance for these visits, and it does not mention HSA use or financing. The health system lists Estimate Cost of Care and Price Transparency pages in its billing section. Ask whether either one covers a weight loss or hormone visit, since no price for this care is published.
What should you ask before you book?
The clinic names six prescribers with different credentials and does not say who handles which medication. Ask which of them will write your prescription and whether a physician signs it. Ask whether the medication is brand-name or compounded, since the clinic names compounded topical creams among its prescriptions.
Ask whether any monthly fee includes the medication, and what follow-up visits and lab work cost on top of it. Ask whether telehealth visits are offered, what the office hours are, and how cancellation and refunds work. Ask, too, how lifestyle work fits into the plan. In its own words: "We never prescribe any medicine without first addressing lifestyle." Ask what that looks like for you before you pay anything.
Who is it a good fit for?
This is a good fit if you already live in or near one of its towns and want weight loss or hormone questions handled inside a hospital network with an endocrinologist on its team. If you want published prices or a program you can join online, ask for those before you decide.
