About Roots Wellness
What is Roots Wellness?
Roots Wellness is a functional medicine practice at 1429 Thousand Oaks Blvd, suite 100, in Thousand Oaks, California. Its phone number is 805-906-2015. The prescribers are Toni Tizon-Damiano, APRN, MSN and Mary Cait McAleer, APRN, FNP-BC, MSN. Toni has been in the nursing field since 2005. Besides weight management, hormone balance, peptides and women's wellness, the clinic offers IV therapy, regenerative medicine and telehealth.
The weight program is called Metabolic Reset. It runs 90 days and uses either compounded Semaglutide or brand-name GLP-1 medications. In its own words: "Your labs said normal. Your body said otherwise." Google lists the practice with a rating of 5 from 17 reviews.
What does it cost?
Metabolic Reset starts at $331 a month, billed every 90 days. The page does not say whether that figure includes the medication. On the brand-name path, the medication is paid directly to Lilly. The initial consult is $450 and is billed separately. It is credited toward the Ultimate and Exclusive plans but not the Basic plan. After the 90 days, maintenance starts at $395 a month, or $300 a quarter on the Basic compounded plan.
Hormone Reset starts at $440 a month, billed every 90 days. If you join within 10 days, a consult credit of $225 to $450 applies. The hormone page gives only that starting price. It does not publish peptide prices. The clinic accepts insurance for labs and medications through retail pharmacies and will help coordinate that, but it still charges a medication management and lab coordination fee. Both programs are HSA or FSA eligible. The page does not state a cancellation policy.
What should you ask before you book?
Ask whether the $331 figure includes the Semaglutide, and if not, what the medication costs each month. Ask whether the Semaglutide is compounded or brand-name, and which pharmacy fills it. Ask who writes your prescription, Toni or Mary Cait, and who you will see for follow-up. Ask what follow-up visits and lab work cost after the first 90 days, and whether in-office visits are billed to insurance. If peptides or hormone therapy interest you, ask for the full price, since only starting prices are given. Finally, ask how a 90-day plan is cancelled and what happens to money already paid.
Who is it a good fit for?
This is a good fit if you want a nurse practitioner-led functional medicine practice, can attend in Thousand Oaks or join by video from California, Oregon or Arizona, and are ready to pay the program fees yourself. If you need the full cost of a course of care before you commit, get those answers first.
