About Tang Personalized Medicine of Southern California

What is Tang Personalized Medicine of Southern California?

Tang Personalized Medicine of Southern California is an internal medicine practice at 27420 Tourney Rd, Suite 210, in Santa Clarita, California. Jennifer Tang, M.D., is the physician who prescribes there, and she is board certified in internal medicine. She has been practicing for over 2 decades.

The practice focuses on complex chronic conditions and lists seven areas: Hypermobility Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome, Mast Cell Activation Syndrome, gut health and digestion, autoimmune disease, healthy aging and menopause, and metabolism and weight. Weight loss is one of those seven. Its weight page names GLP-1 medications such as semaglutide, tirzepatide and orforglipron, but it does not clearly say the practice prescribes them. Its menopause page discusses hormone therapy without stating it is offered as a service. It names no peptide or longevity services.

Visits take place in Santa Clarita or by telehealth for adults 18 and older in California. Hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30am to 5pm. Its Google listing shows a 5 rating from 14 reviews. The practice is not taking new patients right now. In its own words: "we are not currently booking new patients." New patients can join a waitlist.

What does it cost?

It is cash pay only. The practice does not accept insurance, though it will provide a superbill you can submit to insurance or a health savings account. It is out of network and does not accept new Medicare patients. A first visit is $480 for 60 minutes with one or two active problems, $600 for 75 minutes with three or four, or $720 for 90 minutes with five or more or complex chronic conditions. Follow-ups run $240 for a 30-minute routine check-up, $360 for 45 minutes covering one or two new problems or a lab review, or $480 for 60 minutes covering three or more new problems or an in-depth review of functional labs.

It does not publish prices for weight loss or hormone therapy, and it does not say whether medication is included in any price. Ask for those numbers before you book.

What should you ask before you book?

Ask who writes and signs the prescription for any GLP-1 medication or hormone therapy, and whether that is Dr. Tang herself. Ask whether the medication is part of the visit fee or billed on top, and whether it is brand name or compounded. Ask what the evaluation before a GLP-1 medication involves, and what monitoring and lab work cost, since no fee for either is listed. Finally, ask how many follow-ups a plan usually needs, what each one costs, and how cancellation works, which the practice does not describe.

Who is it a good fit for?

This is a good fit if you live with one of the complex conditions the practice lists, can pay cash, and are willing to wait for a new-patient spot. If you cannot travel to Santa Clarita, call (661) 866-0871 to ask about a new-patient telehealth visit from anywhere in California. It may not suit you if you need insurance billing or Medicare.
