What is Pacific Lipo?
Pacific Lipo is a cosmetic and plastic surgery practice with offices in San Diego (La Jolla), Los Angeles and Newport Beach, California. Most of what it does is surgery: liposculpture, tummy tucks, Brazilian butt lifts, breast surgery, facelifts, rhinoplasty and hair restoration. Medical weight loss is one of its eight listed services. Of the care you might be comparing, it lists only medical weight loss. It does not mention hormone therapy or longevity medicine.
The weight loss program uses semaglutide. In its own words: "medically supervised weight loss peptides that are tailored to help you achieve your health and beauty goals while boosting your confidence." Its weight loss page says a doctor reviews your health, your weight and the medications you take, and that bloodwork may be done before semaglutide is recommended.
The team page lists seven surgeons: Sam Assassa, M.D., M.D., who is shown as medical director; John Compoginis, M.D., M.D.; Joseph Bivens, M.D., M.D.; Rakhesh Guttikonda, DO, DO; Dan Yamini, M.D., M.D.; Han Hoang, M.D., M.D.; and Dr. Deniz Gocken, MD, MD. The clinic does not name which of them prescribes the weight loss medication. Visits are by appointment only. San Diego and Newport Beach are open Monday to Saturday, 9am to 5pm. Los Angeles is open Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm. It does not say when the practice opened.
This listing is for its San Diego office at 8899 University Center Lane, 250.
What does it cost?
It does not publish a price for medical weight loss or semaglutide. It does not say whether the medication is part of any monthly fee. The initial consultation is listed as free. The practice does not take insurance, so all care is paid in cash. Financing with low monthly payments is available, and military discounts are listed.
Its surgical prices are published for comparison. A tummy tuck is listed at $7500.00, or starting at $4995.00 under a limited-time offer. A Brazilian butt lift is listed at $5000.00, or starting at $2500.00. Those surgical figures cover the surgery day but leave out anesthesia, implants, prescription medications, preoperative labs and BMI charges. Ask whether the same exclusions apply to weight loss care.
What should you ask before you book?
Ask which doctor prescribes the semaglutide, and whether that doctor reviews your health before each prescription is written. Ask whether any monthly price includes the medication, the visits and the bloodwork, and what the lab tests and follow-up visits cost on their own. Ask whether the drug is brand-name or compounded, since the clinic calls its treatment peptides and you should know which product you would receive.
Ask whether a weight loss consultation can be done by video. The practice lists a virtual consultation, but its weight loss pages do not say whether that applies to weight loss. Finally, ask how cancellation works, including whether you must commit to a minimum number of months.
Who is it a good fit for?
This is a good fit if you want weight loss care from a practice that mainly does cosmetic surgery, you are already weighing a procedure there too, and you can pay cash. It is a weaker fit if you need a published monthly price or a named prescribing doctor before you book.
