About Health And Life Organization (HALO)

What is Health And Life Organization (HALO)?

Health And Life Organization (HALO) is a nonprofit community health center. It was founded in 2003 as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit public benefit corporation and was designated a Federally Qualified Health Center Look-Alike in 2008. Its clinics are in Sacramento, Rancho Cordova and North Highlands, and its service area is the City of Sacramento, with a focus on low-income and ethnically diverse communities.

It lists twelve services: family medicine, pediatric services, prenatal and postpartum care, women's health, behavioral health, pain management, dermatology, podiatry, acupuncture, chiropractic care, dentistry and weight loss management. Weight loss management is one of those twelve. It gives no detail on that program beyond the name, and it does not list hormone therapy, peptide therapy or longevity medicine.

It also offers telehealth. In its own words: "See your provider from home." The telehealth service covers routine care, chronic condition management, prescriptions and specialist access.

What does it cost?

It does not publish prices, including for weight loss management, and it does not publish a consultation fee. It accepts Medi-Cal, Medicare and other insurances, and it offers a sliding fee scale for federally qualified uninsured patients. It does not say whether that scale applies to weight loss care. It also does not state whether any fee would include medication, so ask before booking.

What should you ask before you book?

Ask which clinic offers weight loss management, and whether the program is run the same way at each one. Ask who prescribes the medication, since it does not name a prescriber for that program. Ask which medications are used and whether any are compounded rather than brand-name, because it does not name a medication.

Ask whether weight loss visits are billed to your insurance or fall under the sliding fee scale. Ask what the first visit, follow-up visits and lab work cost, and whether a telehealth visit is billed the same way. Ask what happens if you want to stop, and whether there is a fee or commitment. It does not publish those terms.

Who is it a good fit for?

This is a good fit if you want primary care, dental, behavioral health or another listed service from a nonprofit clinic that accepts Medi-Cal, Medicare or other insurance, and weight loss management is a secondary need. It is less of a fit if you are looking for a weight loss program with named medications, posted prices and a named prescriber, because it publishes none of those for weight loss.

We have not yet collected published prices or prescriber credentials for this clinic. When we do, they will appear here with a link to the page they came from — or a note saying the clinic publishes none, which is itself worth knowing. Call them for a price in the meantime.
