What is Afterglow?
Afterglow is a medical spa with offices in Corte Madera and Los Gatos, California. Most of its menu is aesthetic work, including Botox, Jeuveau and Dysport, HydraFacial, Sculptra, platelet-rich plasma, laser treatments and body contouring. It also offers weight management with tirzepatide, men's and women's hormone therapy, peptide therapy, and IV and regenerative treatments such as NAD+ IV therapy. Google lists it as a medical spa, with a 4.5 rating from 15 reviews.
Dr. Dan Solomon, MD, is listed as Medical Director and as an orthopedic surgeon, and he leads the men's hormone program. Dr. Michael Potter, MD, is listed as the concierge physician and is named as the medical reviewer of the tirzepatide information. Cathy Guthrie is listed as a nurse practitioner who works in hormone optimization and regenerative therapies. Hours differ between the two towns, so check the office you plan to visit.
This listing is for its Corte Madera office at 520 Tamalpais Dr Ste 204.
What does it cost?
Afterglow does not publish prices for weight management, hormone therapy or peptide therapy, and it does not publish a consultation fee. The men's hormone program comes in two membership tiers, OPTIMIZE and PERFORMANCE, and neither shows a price. OPTIMIZE covers medication management, supplies, labs and unlimited consultations. PERFORMANCE adds up to 3 peptide therapies a month, dose adjustments and quarterly body composition tracking. It does not say whether any monthly fee includes the medication, whether insurance is accepted, or how a membership is cancelled. Ask for every figure in writing before you book.
What should you ask before you book?
Ask who writes the prescription for each treatment you are considering, and which office that person works from. Ask whether the tirzepatide is a brand-name product or a compounded one, and ask the same about the peptides. The clinic's own weight management information says: "Tirzepatide is not FDA-approved for weight loss and is considered an off-label, investigational therapy." Ask what that means for you and what consent form you will sign.
Ask whether a monthly fee includes the medication, and what each peptide costs if it does not. For testosterone, ask what the labs cost, how often they are repeated, and whether they are part of the membership. Ask whether any visit can be done by video, whether insurance is accepted, and how to cancel a membership, including whether there is a commitment period.
Who is it a good fit for?
This is a good fit if you want aesthetic treatments and a hormone or weight program from one clinic, you are prepared to pay cash for care your insurance does not cover, and you want to know the prescribing physician by name before you spend anything. If you need a posted price list or a written cancellation policy before you commit, ask for them first, and wait for the answer.
