About Ideal Health

What is Ideal Health?

Ideal Health is a weight loss practice with offices in Anchorage and Fairbanks, Alaska. Its core program is the Ideal Protein protocol, a three-phase plan built on food and regular coaching. Dr. James O. Hill II, DO, is the medical director, and Dylan Webb is the clinic director. The medical director reviews each new client's health profile before they start.

Phase 1 restricts carbohydrates until you reach your weight loss goal. Phase 2 is stabilization. In its own words: "Weekly follow-up sessions over the course of two months or more are designed to monitor carbohydrate reintroduction and track weight." Phase 3 covers the first 12 months after stabilization, with continued coaching and an optional app and Wi-Fi scale.

Beyond the protocol, it offers a compounded tirzepatide product and weekly InBody body composition scans, which are included with membership. Clients outside the two towns are coached by phone and receive their products by mail. It has a 5-star rating on Google from 21 reviews.

What does it cost?

New clients pay a one-time start-up fee of $150. That covers the first appointment, weekly appointments through weight loss and maintenance, and the InBody scans. After that, the food runs about $90 a week and vitamins and minerals about $100 a month, for a total near $450 a month, depending. The compounded tirzepatide is listed at $599.00. A GLP-1 Support Kit Bundle is listed at $449.00 with medication included. It does not say whether the tirzepatide price is per month or per dose, or whether medication is part of it. It advertises a free consultation, but its FAQ lists the $150 start-up fee, so ask which applies. It does not publish insurance or cancellation terms.

What should you ask before you book?

Ask who writes the tirzepatide prescription and how it is started. It does not say whether a visit comes before a prescription, so ask directly. Ask whether the $599 is a monthly fee or a per-dose price, and whether medication is included. Since the tirzepatide is compounded, ask which pharmacy fills it and what that means for the product you would receive. Ask which fee applies, the free consultation or the $150 start-up, and whether insurance is accepted. Ask what lab work and follow-up cost beyond the monthly fee, whether a membership commits you to a minimum period, and how you cancel.

Who is it a good fit for?

This is a good fit if you want a food-based plan with weekly coaching and a medical director overseeing your health profile, and you are comfortable paying cash for it. If the answers to the questions above are unclear, it is worth a call to get them in writing before you pay anything.
