About Basecamp Medical

What is Basecamp Medical?

Basecamp Medical is a men's health clinic at 2507 Fairbanks Street, Suite 2, in Anchorage, Alaska. Its main focus is testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) and hormone optimization. It also offers peptide therapy, medical weight loss, erectile dysfunction therapy, bio-identical hormone therapy, IV and supplement injections, image consulting and supplements.

Megan, APRN, NP, is the nurse practitioner who prescribes there. Her profile gives over 26 years of clinical experience. Telehealth is available statewide. The clinic calls itself a concierge-style clinic and does not take insurance. Its Google listing shows a rating of 5 from 18 reviews.

What does it cost?

The initial visit, called the Basecamp Assessment, is $200, and that fee can be applied to the first month of weight loss membership. Weight loss labs are a separate $200.00 panel, and they must be done before the assessment.

The weight loss membership is a 12-week contract billed monthly. The first payment is due at enrollment, and later payments are charged automatically on the same day each month. There is 10% off if you combine it with another hormone membership, or 10% off if you pay all 12 weeks up front. It does not publish a monthly membership price, and it does not say whether that fee includes the medication. It does not publish prices for TRT or peptide therapy.

Payment is due at the time of service, and no insurance is accepted. In its own words: "Initial lab cost is not included in the membership price and is required." Some patients use HSA or FSA accounts, though coverage is not guaranteed. A Superbill is available on request.

What should you ask before you book?

Ask whether Megan signs every prescription, or whether someone else on the team does. Ask which weight loss medication is used. It does not name it, so ask whether it is brand-name or compounded. Prescriptions are compounded for each patient and filled through its partner pharmacy network, so ask what that pharmacy charges and whether the cost is part of your membership.

Ask whether the monthly fee covers the medication, and what the monthly fee is. Initial labs for TRT are not priced, so ask what they cost. Follow-up labs are included in the membership, so ask which ones are covered.

Ask how to cancel the 12-week contract and whether any refund applies if you stop early. TRT may affect fertility, and that is discussed in the evaluation before treatment starts, so raise it before you commit. It does not list office hours, so ask when visits are offered.

Who is it a good fit for?

This is a good fit if you are a man in Anchorage or elsewhere in Alaska, you want TRT, peptide therapy or medically supervised weight loss, you can pay cash, and you want these questions answered before you pay for the $200 assessment.
