About Arctic Rose Wellness
What is Arctic Rose Wellness?
Arctic Rose Wellness is a women's health practice at 4101 Arctic Blvd, Suite 206, in Anchorage, Alaska 99503. Hormone therapy is at the center of it, alongside BioTE pellet therapy, fertility support, weight loss, gynecology and nutraceuticals. Jean Walker, WHNP, WHNP-BC, owns the practice and is a certified BioTE provider, with 7 years of specialized experience and 17+ years in healthcare. Kaitlyn Bathold, APRN, DNP, specializes in fertility, perimenopause, hormone management and preventative medicine.
The weight loss program uses the GLP-1 medications semaglutide and tirzepatide, along with lifestyle guidance. The clinic reviews labs, health history and goals before it prescribes. It is by appointment only, and it does not list office hours. Telemedicine is open to Alaska residents statewide, including Fairbanks, Juneau, Kenai, Homer, Wasilla, Palmer and the Mat-Su Valley, though some services need an in-person visit in Midtown Anchorage. It has a Google rating of 5 from 30 reviews.
What does it cost?
It is cash pay. In its own words: "Arctic Rose Wellness is a private-pay clinic. We do not bill insurance directly." Many services and packages are HSA or FSA eligible, and some lab work and medications may be covered by insurance, depending on the plan.
The initial GLP-1 consult is $375, a follow-up weight check without labs is $75, and a follow-up with lab review is $225. Combined visits cost more: $480 for an initial HRT and GLP-1 consult, and $600 for an initial BioTE pellet and GLP-1 consult. Annual packages are priced by the year, with a monthly equivalent. The GLP-1 1-Year Package is $1,700 a year, or $141.67 a month. The Female 1-Year HRT Package with GLP-1 is $2,205 a year, or $183.75 a month. The Female 1-Year BioTE Package with GLP-1 is $3,210 a year, or $267.50 a month. Packages include 15% off labs billed through the clinic and priority provider access. It does not say whether GLP-1 medication is included in the visit prices, and it lists no price for the medication itself. Cancellation terms for packages are not stated.
What should you ask before you book?
Ask who will write your prescription. Both listed prescribers are advanced practice nurses, so if you want a physician, ask first.
Ask whether the visit prices include the GLP-1 medication and what the medication costs on its own. Ask whether the medication is brand-name or compounded, since it does not say. Ask what labs cost between visits, and how many lab draws a package includes.
Ask how a package is cancelled or paused, and ask for office hours. If you live outside Anchorage, ask which of your services can be done by telemedicine.
Who is it a good fit for?
This is a good fit if you are paying cash for women's health care, live in Alaska, and want hormone therapy, BioTE pellets or GLP-1 weight loss from a practice run by two advanced practice nurses. If you need a physician prescriber or set office hours, ask before you book, since neither is listed.
