About On Demand Healthcare

What is On Demand Healthcare?

On Demand Healthcare is a direct-pay primary care practice with offices in Pelham, Pell City and Springville, Alabama. It opened in 2020, when Charlie King partnered with Tim Watkins to start the practice. Its prescribers are Jason Clemons MD, MS, Charlie King CRNP, Tim Watkins CRNP and Elaine Harris CRNP.

Primary care and hormone therapy for men and women are the core of the practice. The clinic also offers sick care visits for the whole household, telemedicine, lab and radiology work, weight loss with semaglutide and tirzepatide, infusion therapy, body sculpting, electrolysis, DOT physicals and buprenorphine management. Many follow-up and sick visits can be done remotely. In its own words: "We discuss your health care and financial concerns, your treatment and payment options, and what decisions you feel comfortable with making." On Google the clinic is rated 4.8 from 40 reviews.

This listing is for its Pell City office at 2408 Cogswell Avenue.

What does it cost?

On Demand Healthcare is cash pay only. You pay upfront, and if you have insurance you can send the bill to your provider for reimbursement. It does not say whether any insurance plans are accepted.

For weight loss, the initial consult is $250, and weight loss management is included for members. A one-month follow-up visit is $100. Semaglutide management is $250 and tirzepatide management is $425, and each of those includes one month of medication delivered to your door.

The On Demand Membership is $124 a month after the $250 initial consultation. It covers up to 4 scheduled primary care visits a year, up to 6 same-day or next-day urgent visits, full lab work and many commonly prescribed medicines dispensed on site at cost. The Concierge Membership is listed at $249 a month on one part of the site and $250 on another.

Hormone therapy is priced separately. The standard initial consult with follow-up and plan is $250, quarterly follow-up is $195, a male hormone panel is $55, a female hormone panel is $50, a female pellet insertion is $350 and a male pellet insertion is $650. Members pay $100 per female pellet insertion and $350 per male insertion. Payment plans are offered through Cherry, which spreads costs over monthly payments. The clinic does not state its cancellation terms or whether membership pricing includes medication for the hormone program.

What should you ask before you book?

Ask who will prescribe and manage your care, and whether the physician or a CRNP will be your main provider. Ask whether the semaglutide and tirzepatide are brand-name or compounded, since the clinic does not say. Ask whether follow-up and additional lab work cost extra on top of the $100 follow-up visit.

Confirm which Concierge price applies. Ask what cancellation or commitment terms come with a membership, and whether you must sign up for a set period. Ask which commonly prescribed medicines are dispensed on site and what they cost. Ask whether any insurance plans are accepted, and what the office hours are, since the clinic does not list them.

Who is it a good fit for?

This is a good fit if you are paying cash for primary care, hormone therapy or weight loss, want the monthly cost in writing, and are comfortable paying upfront. It is less suited to you if you need a clinic that bills insurance or if you want cancellation terms on the page before you commit.
