What is Optimize Health MD?
Optimize Health MD is a physician-led wellness and longevity practice with four services: Performance IV Therapy, Hormone Optimization, Medical Weight Optimization and Peptide Therapy. Matt Davis, MD is the physician named for all sessions and ongoing plans. Dr. Davis is an orthopedic surgeon by background.
The weight loss program names Semaglutide and Tirzepatide. Patients are seen in person in Birmingham, Hoover and Greystone, or by telehealth, which is offered only to patients in Alabama. The website shows no street address or office hours, so call 205-737-8685 to confirm where and when. Its Google listing shows a 5 rating from 3 reviews.
What does it cost?
The membership is $75 a month, and it does not include medication, which is billed separately. The first step is a $250 consultation, a 60-minute virtual visit with Dr. Davis to review your health and set a 90-day plan. Joining the membership within 30 days of that visit includes your first month. Labs are extra: the Hormone Health Snapshot is $125 and covers estrogen, progesterone, testosterone and DHEA, and the Total Health Evaluation is $299.
The weight loss page says insurance coverage for weight loss can be limited, and that many plans cover Semaglutide and Tirzepatide only for diabetes or other specific conditions. It describes self-pay and compounded options. It does not say whether insurance is accepted for these services, and it does not mention Medicare. It does not publish prices for GLP-1 weight loss or peptide therapy. A banner advertises a free trial without giving any terms.
What should you ask before you book?
Ask who writes each prescription and who manages your plan between visits. Ask whether the $75 membership covers any medication, and what the medication costs each month. Ask which pharmacy fills it, and whether the GLP-1 medication is brand-name or compounded. Ask the price of peptide therapy, and what follow-up visits and repeat labs cost. Ask whether it accepts your insurance or Medicare for these visits, and how a free trial is billed. Finally, ask how to cancel the membership and how much notice is required. If you live outside Alabama, telehealth is not an option.
Who is it a good fit for?
This is a good fit if you live in Birmingham, Hoover, Greystone or elsewhere in Alabama, and you are ready to pay directly for the membership, medication and labs. If you need insurance to cover the medication, get those answers in writing before you book.
