What is MAC MedSpa?
MAC MedSpa is a medical spa with a full-time location in La Vernia, Texas, and a weekly beauty and Botox clinic at Agape Day Spa in New Braunfels. Most of what it offers is cosmetic: Botox, Dysport, Xeomin, Daxxify, Jeuveau and Restylane injectables, facials, laser skin tightening, spider vein treatment and Latisse. Weight loss is one of its service groups, with peptide therapy injections, a Lipotropic Fat Burner Shot and a B Complex Vitamin Shot. Its IV menu includes Sermorelin, NAD+ and Glutathione. It does not offer GLP-1 medication or hormone therapy. Google lists it as a medical spa, with a rating of 5 from 165 reviews.
Marilynn Mujezinovic-Womack owns the practice. She is a family nurse practitioner, board certified since 2002, and has specialized in medical aesthetics since 2008. Kassandra Beltz, PA, and Nicole Yow, RN, are also listed as prescribers. Dr. Haoran Yu (internal medicine) and Dr. Markian Kunasz (plastic surgery) are named as medical directors, but MAC MedSpa does not say how either one is involved in its injectable or peptide treatments.
This listing is for its La Vernia office at 121 Bluebonnet Rd.
What does it cost?
MAC MedSpa does not publish a consultation fee. It does not say whether it accepts insurance, offers financing or takes HSA payments. Most prices are per unit or per item. Botox is $12 per unit, Daxxify $6 per unit, Dysport $5 a unit and Kybella $600 per vial. Peptide therapy injections run $49 to $99, but the price unit is not given, and it does not say whether medication is included. Other weight loss items are a Lipotropic Fat Burner Shot at $25, a B Complex Vitamin Shot at $15, five fat burner shots for $100 to go, and ten weekly shots for $140 in the spa. IV therapy starts at $129, with Glutathione at $35, NAD+ at $45 and Sermorelin at $45.
First-time patients pay a deposit. In its own words: "Our first time patients require a $50 deposit when booking a service that is non-refundable, but may be used towards products, services, or Boutique." The deposit can go toward products, services or the boutique.
What should you ask before you book?
Ask who signs the prescription for the peptide injections, and whether a physician reviews it. Three people are listed as prescribers, and two doctors are named as medical directors, without saying who does what.
Ask which peptides are used and whether they are brand-name or pharmacy compounds. The weight loss section carries a footnote about a pharmacy compound for energy, metabolism and muscle tone, but it does not name the peptides.
Ask whether the $49 to $99 is per shot, per month or per visit, whether medication is included, and what follow-up visits and lab work cost. Customized add-ons may cost extra after an assessment by a nurse practitioner or physician assistant, and laser sessions require a medical evaluation first, so ask whether those are charged. Ask how a weekly series or package is cancelled, whether follow-up can be done by telehealth, and what the office hours are.
Who is it a good fit for?
This is a good fit if you want cosmetic injectables, facials, laser treatments or IV therapy near La Vernia or New Braunfels, and you are curious about the peptide shots once the questions above are answered. It is a weaker match if you are looking for a medical weight loss program built on GLP-1 medication or hormone therapy, since neither appears on its menu.
