What is Extivita?
Extivita is an integrative wellness clinic at 2012-D TW Alexander Drive in Durham, North Carolina. Its main service is hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT), offered alongside IV therapies, neurofeedback, infrared sauna, PEMF therapy, telomere analysis, food sensitivity testing and supplements. In its own words: "A structured wellness program designed to support long-term brain and body performance through integrative therapies and lifestyle upgrades." The Longevity Challenge combines HBOT, PEMF therapy, nutritional optimization and a medical-guided fast over a 5-day or 12-day plan.
Dr. James Stevens is the medical director and the only prescriber the clinic names. It does not publish his credentials. Google lists the clinic at 5 stars from 98 reviews. It names no GLP-1 weight-loss medication, hormone therapy or peptide treatment, so ask about those directly if they are what you came for.
What does it cost?
The Longevity Challenge is priced as a whole program. The 5-Day Longevity Plan costs $959.99 and includes 5 HBOT dives, 5 PEMF sessions, the ProImmune supplement regimen, trace minerals, a consultation with a medical provider and HBOT equipment. The 12-Day Longevity Plan costs $1,599.99 and includes 10 HBOT dives, 10 PEMF sessions and the same supplements, minerals and consultation. Add-ons such as IV drips, telomere analysis, qEEG brain mapping and infrared sauna sessions are offered at a discounted rate, but the clinic does not publish their prices. It does not publish single-session prices either.
The program price does not say whether any prescription medication is included. It does not say whether insurance or HSA funds are accepted. The first Personalized Wellness Visit is described as free. Cancellation terms for the Longevity Challenge are not published.
What should you ask before you book?
Ask who writes the HBOT prescription. Extivita says a medical prescription is required for HBOT and that most of its other therapies do not need a provider appointment to begin. Ask whether one prescription covers every session in your plan.
Ask who supervises the medical-guided fast, what checks happen before you start and how you reach a provider during it. Ask whether the included consultation happens before or after the fast, and whether labs or follow-up visits cost extra. Ask whether any prescription medication is part of the program price.
Also ask for Dr. Stevens's credentials, the price of single sessions, whether telehealth is available, the clinic's hours, how long it has been open, whether it takes insurance, and how cancellations and refunds work. The program runs quarterly, so ask for the next start date.
Who is it a good fit for?
This is a good fit if you want hyperbaric oxygen at the center of a short, in-clinic program and you are comfortable getting the answers above before you pay. It is not the match if you are looking for weight-loss medication, hormone therapy or peptides, because the clinic does not name any of them.
