About Utah Natural Medicine

What is Utah Natural Medicine?

Utah Natural Medicine is a naturopathic clinic at 242 South 400 East in Salt Lake City, UT 84111. The phone number is 801-363-8824. It was founded over 20 years ago by Dr. Rachel Burnett, ND, ND and Dr. Matthew Burnett, ND, ND, who are the two prescribers it names. Its main work is naturopathic care for adults, with some care for children.

It lists eight services, including naturopathic and functional medicine with acupuncture, heart health care, women and men's health, and age management with dementia prevention. Its hormone therapy covers menopausal hormone therapy for women and hormone therapy for men. It can prescribe FDA-approved, commercially available natural hormones as well as compounded creams, sublingual lozenges and capsules. It does not offer testosterone pellets or injections, but it refers out for them.

In its own words: "Our hormone therapy uses hormones in their natural form and allows us to adjust doses that are customized for each individual to reach optimal hormone levels."

Google lists the clinic at 4.8 from 122 reviews. Its membership description mentions weight loss among its focus areas, but it names no weight loss program and no peptide service.

What does it cost?

The Hormones & Beyond membership costs $195 a month, $585 every 3 months, or $2,340 a year. The annual fee can be paid in any of those installments. Membership covers hormone prescription management, annual visits and nutritional counseling. Members get two acupuncture treatments a year, $100 off PRP microneedling and hair packages, and 10% off IV nutrient therapy. Visit time beyond two hours in a year is billed at $90 per 15-minute block.

Lab testing is not covered by the membership. Listed self-pay prices include $41 for estradiol, $55 for free and total testosterone, $72 for a thyroid panel, $12 for a CBC and $15 for a CMP, plus a $20 blood draw fee. The clinic does not publish a consultation fee. It also does not say whether hormone medication is included in the membership, whether it accepts insurance for visits, or what its cancellation terms are.

What should you ask before you book?

Ask which of the two Burnetts would write your hormone prescription and who handles your follow-up. Ask whether the monthly fee includes the hormone medication or whether you pay for it separately, and whether each hormone is a commercial product or a compounded preparation. Ask what your first visit costs and what a full lab panel comes to once the $20 draw fee is added.

Ask whether any visits can be done by video, what the clinic's hours are, and how you cancel a membership. Find out whether a prepaid quarterly or annual payment is refunded if you stop. Finally, ask what the clinic means by "natural" for the specific product you would take.

Who is it a good fit for?

This is a good fit if you want in-person naturopathic care with hormone prescribing inside a membership, and you can pay for labs and visits on top of the monthly fee. It is harder to plan for if you need telehealth, a written medication price, or a cancellation policy before you commit.
