What is Wellstone Health Partners?
Wellstone Health Partners is a multispecialty medical group with offices in Harker Heights, Killeen, Belton and Temple, Texas. Most of what it does is general medicine: family medicine, primary care, ear, nose and throat care, and surgery, including breast surgery and biopsies, hernia surgery and appendectomies. Women's care is one of its service lines. Under it, the clinic lists hormone therapy for hormone disorders, along with family planning, menopausal care, osteoporosis screening, STI screening and digital mammography. Its women's health center is in Harker Heights.
The clinic names one prescriber, Brandy Libby, a women's health nurse practitioner. Its women's care section says she also cares for PCOS, endometriosis and menopause. The clinic does not say which hormone treatments she prescribes, which medicines are used, or what testing comes first. Its service list also includes BioTe, with no explanation of what that is. Google lists the practice under Doctor with a 3.1 rating from 12 reviews. Video visits are offered. In its own words: "Visit with a licensed provider now"
This listing is for its Harker Heights office at 800 West Central Texas Expressway.
What does it cost?
Wellstone does not publish prices, a consultation fee, or a cash rate for hormone care. It does not say whether it takes insurance, or whether a visit fee includes medication. The one membership term it states applies to Chronic Care Management, a care coordination program the clinic describes as designed by Medicare. In its own words: "With Chronic Care Management, there is no long-term commitment" Its policy list includes a Good Faith Estimate, which is worth requesting before any cash visit.
What should you ask before you book?
Ask who signs the hormone prescription, and whether that is Brandy Libby or someone else. Ask whether any hormone medicine is brand-name or compounded, and what it costs each month. Ask whether that price includes the medication, the lab work and the follow-up visits. Ask whether the clinic accepts your insurance for hormone visits, and what a first consultation costs. Ask what BioTe is and whether it would be part of your care. Ask for the hours at the Harker Heights women's health office, since none are listed. Finally, ask how to cancel, and get the answer in writing. The main line is 254-618-1020.
Who is it a good fit for?
This is a good fit if you want hormone care from a group that also handles your primary care, surgery and women's health checkups, and you are willing to get every price and prescriber detail in writing before you pay. It is a weaker fit if you are looking for a weight loss, peptide or longevity program, because the clinic does not list any of those services.
