What is Carolina Hormone & Health Center?
Carolina Hormone & Health Center is a hormone clinic with offices in Charleston and Columbia, South Carolina. A third office in Greer is listed as coming this fall and is not yet open. Its main service is bioidentical hormone replacement therapy for women and men, and its treatment plans work with testosterone, estradiol and progesterone. In its own words: "design a personal care plan that will consist of working with the three primary sex hormones." Hormones are given through a pellet implant placed in the hip area, with visits every 3 to 4 months and new lab work each time. Google lists the clinic at 4.9 from 138 reviews.
The clinic also offers advanced diagnostic testing, EmpowerRF sexual wellness, nutritional IV therapy, O-Shot, PL2020 and peptide injections. Its aesthetics department, called The Retreat, offers chemical peels, dermal fillers, facials, Morpheus8 microneedling, IPL hair removal and other treatments. Its managing partners are Ellen Little Lord and Micheal Lord. It describes doctors, PAs, nurse practitioners and nurses on staff, but it does not say which clinician writes the prescriptions.
The clinic does not list a medical weight loss program among its services. Its articles on GLP-1 medications are written for people who are already taking them, and one invites patients to talk with the team at their next appointment about protein targets and a strength routine. If weight loss care is what you need, ask directly whether it is offered.
This listing is for its Greer office at 302a Trade St.
What does it cost?
It does not publish prices for hormone therapy, testing, peptides or aesthetic treatments. The first visit is a free consultation, which it describes this way: "Your free consultation will consist of a full medical history and symptom evaluation." It also does not say whether medication is included in any fee, whether it accepts insurance, or whether it offers HSA use, financing or memberships. Because hormone patients return every 3 to 4 months for new labs, ask what a full year of care costs, not just the first visit.
What should you ask before you book?
Ask which clinician writes and signs your prescription, and whether a physician reviews your lab results. Ask whether the hormones are brand-name or compounded, and whether the medication is part of the program price or billed separately. Ask whether it bills insurance at all, and what each lab panel, implant visit and follow-up costs. Ask whether any part of care can be done by telehealth, which it does not say, and how cancellation works, including whether there is a minimum commitment.
If you are under 35, note that the clinic is not currently accepting patients under 35 for hormone therapy unless a qualifying medical event applies. It asks you to call before submitting a request. If you are interested in weight loss care or aesthetic treatments, ask for the price and the clinician's role for each one before booking.
Who is it a good fit for?
This is a good fit if you want hormone therapy for menopause, andropause or other hormone imbalance, you can get to the Charleston or Columbia office, and you are 35 or older or have a qualifying medical event. If you want only weight loss care or only aesthetic work, get the answers to the questions above before you call.
