What is FitMed Partners?
FitMed Partners is a cash-pay medical practice at 900 Island Park Drive, Suite #105, in Charleston, SC 29492. The phone number is (843) 471-2534, and the office is open Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 5:00pm. FitMed describes itself as a practice specializing in individualized age management. Its main services are hormone therapy for men, hormone therapy for women, and bioidentical hormone therapy. It also offers weight management, medically based fitness, nutrition, and an Elite Athlete program for sports performance testing.
Bright McConnell, MD, is the one prescriber FitMed names. The practice describes him as an orthopaedic surgeon and certified age management specialist. A registered dietitian works with weight management patients, but FitMed does not name that person. The medications it mentions are testosterone, estrogen, progesterone, DHEA, and human growth hormone (HGH). Its Google listing shows a rating of 5 from one review.
What does it cost?
FitMed does not publish prices for hormone therapy or weight loss. It also does not say whether labs or medication are included in any price, and it gives no consultation fee for hormone visits. The practice takes cash only. In its own words: "We do not take insurance, we provide the paperwork you need to self file." It accepts CareCredit, a healthcare credit card.
The hormone program starts with a 90-minute assessment. Baseline labs follow 6 weeks after enrollment, with more labs at four-month and eight-month intervals. FitMed lists those steps but not what each one costs. Membership terms and a cancellation policy are not stated.
What should you ask before you book?
Ask who signs the prescription and whether Dr. McConnell will be the prescriber for your plan. Ask whether any monthly fee includes the medication, labs, and follow-up visits, and whether the visits with Dr. McConnell cost extra. Ask whether each hormone is brand-name or compounded, and which pharmacy makes it, since FitMed says its bioidentical hormones are compounded in a pharmacy for each patient. Ask what the 6-week, four-month, and eight-month labs cost. FitMed says HGH is used only in documented cases of adult-onset growth hormone deficiency, so ask what testing supports it in your plan. Ask whether any part of the care can be done by telehealth, since the practice does not say. The pages name no GLP-1 weight loss medication, so ask whether one is offered. Finally, ask how to cancel and whether any money is returned if you stop after the first labs. FitMed's own description of its approach is that "One size does not fit all when managing hormones for men and women," so ask how the plan is individualized before you pay for it.
Who is it a good fit for?
This is a good fit if you want in-person care in Charleston, can pay cash or through CareCredit, and want hormone therapy or a weight plan that combines labs, nutrition, and fitness under one practice with a named physician. It is a weaker fit if you need published prices before you call, want telehealth, or want to know how long the practice has been open, since FitMed does not state its years in practice.
