About Charleston Testosterone
What is Charleston Testosterone?
Charleston Testosterone is a men's clinic at 2 Carriage Lane, Suite 101, Charleston, SC 29407. Its main service is bioidentical hormone replacement, and it also offers peptide therapy, IV therapy and single shot injections. The only medication it names is testosterone. Dr. Mark Luckie, DC, and Cadena Smart, Nurse Practitioner, are listed as prescribers, but the clinic does not say which one is the physician.
Hours run Monday through Friday, with afternoon-only hours on Tuesday and Thursday. The FAQ says the clinic can monitor treatment by telephone, LabCorp and email, and by telemedicine anywhere in South Carolina. It has served the Lowcountry since 1998, and its Google listing shows a 5-star rating from 29 reviews.
What does it cost?
The hormone replacement program is $199 a month. The clinic does not say whether that includes the medication, though its FAQ says cash payment covers the monthly medications. The first step is a $99 new-patient special that covers a medical exam and a full blood work panel. The offer is cash only and valid for new patients. In its own words: "We opt for a cash-payment system for your therapy."
Follow-up is an office visit at 8 weeks, then every 6 months unless you have concerns. The clinic does not publish prices for those visits, follow-up labs, peptide therapy, IV therapy or single shot injections.
What should you ask before you book?
Ask who writes the prescription and who supervises it, since the clinic does not name the physician. Ask whether the $199 covers the testosterone, and whether the product is brand-name or compounded. Ask which product and dose you would start on, because the clinic names neither. Ask what follow-up labs and visits cost beyond the $199.
The FAQ says the clinic wants to be a patient's only source of hormone therapy. If another doctor already prescribes you testosterone, ask how that would be handled. For peptide therapy, ask the price, which peptides are used, and who prescribes them. Ask how to cancel and whether you sign a contract, since the clinic does not publish cancellation terms.
Who is it a good fit for?
This is a good fit if you're a man who will pay cash for an ongoing hormone program, can make an in-person first visit, and is willing to give your own injections at home. If your insurance already covers the care you want, check that option first.
