About Well Woven Direct Primary Care

What is Well Woven Direct Primary Care?

Well Woven Direct Primary Care is a family medicine practice at 670 Weaverville Rd Suite #1 in Asheville, NC 28804, on the town line between Asheville and Weaverville. Dr. Catherine Lok, D.O. is the physician who sees members and prescribes. She is board-certified in family medicine. The practice opened in 2023 and was previously known as RiverRock Clinic. It has a 5-star Google rating from 62 reviews.

It runs on a direct primary care membership, so visits are paid through a flat monthly fee rather than billed to insurance. Services include primary care appointments, in-office procedures such as pap smears and IUD removals, in-office lab draws, and instant tests such as strep, flu and A1c. It offers gender-affirming hormone treatment and referrals, along with PrEP and HIV and sexual health appointments. The one medication it names is Nexplanon. It does not name a weight loss, peptide or longevity program. Visits run Monday through Friday, 9am to 4pm, in person or virtually.

What does it cost?

The adult membership is $130 a month or $1,300 a year, a $260 saving on the monthly rate. The yearly rate for children under 18 is $1,150. In its own words: "Your membership includes all medical appointment fees." Labs and procedures are billed separately, either to insurance or at discounted third-party rates. Membership carries a 6-month minimum commitment, and monthly payments are allowed. The first step is a free 20-minute virtual Meet & Greet with Dr. Lok. The membership agreement can be previewed before that visit.

It does not publish prices for hormone therapy or any medication, and it does not say whether medication is included in the membership. Cancellation terms are not published.

What should you ask before you book?

Ask whether the $130 monthly fee covers hormone prescriptions, or whether the medication is billed on top. Ask which hormones are prescribed and what they cost, since neither is published. Ask whether hormone follow-up labs are billed separately, because lab work is outside the membership fee. Ask whether insurance is accepted for visits. It does not say. Ask how cancellation works after the six-month minimum. Blood draw days are also listed two ways, Tuesday afternoons in one place and Monday afternoons in another, so confirm the current schedule. Dr. Lok is the only prescriber named, so ask who covers when she is away.

Who is it a good fit for?

This is a good fit if you want one physician for ongoing primary care, can commit to a six-month membership, and expect labs and procedures to be billed on top of the monthly fee. It is worth calling if you are looking for LGBTQ+ affirming hormone care and want the medication and hormone pricing confirmed before you book.
