About Everything Is Connected: Functional Medicine

What is Everything Is Connected: Functional Medicine?

Everything Is Connected is a functional medicine practice at 2809 Great Northern Loop, Suite 410, in Missoula, Montana. Mike Hutchins, MD, is the physician and prescriber. He has been continuously board-certified for the last 30 years, and in the last six years he has added training as an herbalist and as a Certified Functional Medicine practitioner. Anna Marie Tschida is a Certified Functional Medicine Health Coach who sees patients alongside him. In its own words: "We offer individualized visits with Dr. Hutchins and Anna Marie and each will be customized to your individual needs."

It offers six services: chronic fatigue and brain fog, cognitive decline, Cognoscopy, diabetes and obesity, GI issues, and hormones. The hormone service uses bioidentical hormones, which the practice describes as plant-derived. It also offers transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS). Google lists it as a medical clinic with a 4.5 rating from 6 reviews.

What does it cost?

It does not publish prices. It has a Fees page, so check there or call 406-210-5259 and ask for the consultation fee before you book.

It does not state whether insurance covers visits. It does say this about labs, imaging and referrals: "We will attempt to use your insurance as much as possible for labs, x-ray studies, and referrals." Most blood draws are done in the office, but some go to offsite laboratories. Ask what those tests will cost you directly.

What should you ask before you book?

Ask whether the price you are quoted includes medication, labs and follow-up visits, or whether each is billed separately. Ask whether hormone prescriptions are a manufactured product or a compounded one, and what each costs per month. It does not name a weight loss medication, so ask whether one is offered and at what price.

The practice requires patients to keep a primary care provider. In its own words: "Dr. Hutchins does not make changes to prescription medications without patient consent and coordination with the prescribing or managing clinician." Ask who your primary care provider would be and how changes are coordinated between them. Also ask whether visits can be done by telehealth, what the office hours are, and how cancellations and refunds work.

Who is it a good fit for?

This is a good fit if you want a physician-led functional medicine visit in Missoula, already have a primary care doctor or are willing to keep one, and can pay out of pocket for care insurance may not fully cover. It is worth calling if the hormone or root-cause approach it describes is what you are looking for and you can get the prices in writing first.

We have not yet collected published prices or prescriber credentials for this clinic. When we do, they will appear here with a link to the page they came from — or a note saying the clinic publishes none, which is itself worth knowing. Call them for a price in the meantime.
