About Lauren Derks, DNP, FNP-C
What is Lauren Derks, DNP, FNP-C?
Lauren Derks, DNP, FNP-C is a hormone optimization practice in Lee's Summit, Missouri, run by Lauren Derks, a board certified family nurse practitioner. Derks is the only prescriber the practice names. It does not publish a street address, phone number or office hours. Telehealth visits are offered to patients in Idaho, Kansas and Missouri, and Derks says she sees patients in all three states.
The practice offers four treatment areas. Women's Hormones covers perimenopause, menopause, estrogen, progesterone and testosterone. Men's Hormones covers testosterone therapy and full hormone panel optimization. Fertility Support covers hormone balancing for couples and individuals trying to conceive. Thyroid Health covers evaluation and management, including T3, T4 and TSH. The clinic does not name weight loss, peptide or longevity services.
Concierge Care is the part that sets the practice apart. Each visit comes with a lifestyle guide, a supplement plan, a medication and supplement schedule, a lab summary and an appointment summary, sent within 24 hours. Patients also get text and email access seven days a week. Before moving into hormone care, Derks spent ten years as a PICU nurse and nurse practitioner. In its own words: "This is a partnership built around your goals."
What does it cost?
Booking starts with a $100 deposit that secures the first appointment. The remaining $300 is due at that visit, for $400 total. Initial labs cost about $250 and are paid directly at the lab. Follow-up visits are $200 each, and follow-up labs are about $150. The practice says most patients in ongoing care spend around $200 every few months on follow-up visits.
Visits are cash pay, and FSA and HSA accounts are accepted. You can submit to insurance for reimbursement on your own, and the practice will provide supporting documents. Medications are filled through a pharmacy. The clinic does not say whether medication is included in the visit price, and it does not publish a cancellation policy.
What should you ask before you book?
Ask whether the $200 follow-up fee includes medication. If it does not, ask what the medication costs and which pharmacy fills it. The clinic does not say whether a medication is brand-name or compounded, so ask which it is and where it comes from.
Ask whether the initial lab panel covers every test your plan needs, and how often follow-up labs are ordered. The clinic does not say whether labs are included in the visit price, so ask for the total you should expect. Ask who signs your prescription and who covers your care when Derks is away. Ask how cancellation and refunds work for the $100 deposit and the $300 balance.
If you live outside Lee's Summit, ask which visits can be done by telehealth from your state.
Who is it a good fit for?
This is a good fit if you want one nurse practitioner handling hormone care, you can pay cash, and you are willing to wait, since the practice is not accepting new patients right now. It takes names for a waitlist and says Derks will reach out personally, in the order received, when a spot opens. If you are looking for weight loss, peptide or longevity care, this clinic does not name those services, and if you need the practice to bill your insurance, it accepts cash pay and FSA or HSA only.
