About Julep Health

What is Julep Health?

Julep Health is an independent, physician-owned internal medicine practice at 731 South Pear Orchard Road, Suite 16, in Ridgeland, Mississippi. Its main work is primary care: checkups, chronic conditions, prescriptions and prevention. It also offers labs and diagnostics (more than 200 tests, which you can order yourself or have the doctor choose), hormones and optimization, a Whole Body Assessment of more than 50 markers with a physician review, and second opinions for hormone treatment you already receive elsewhere.

Hormone care covers testosterone therapy, hormone therapy for perimenopause and menopause, and thyroid medication. Julep does not name specific hormone medications. The one prescriber it names is Adams Briscoe, MD, the founder, described as board-certified in internal medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine. In its own words: "Hormones, tested first and treated second."

Consultations and follow-ups can be done by telehealth across Mississippi. Labs are drawn in person at the clinic or a nearby draw site. The clinic is open Monday through Thursday, 8 am to 4 pm, and Friday, 8 am to noon, and is closed on weekends. It has a 5 rating on Google from 21 reviews.

What does it cost?

Julep publishes one price: a $99 M.D. consultation, which it recommends when you have a specific concern. The doctor then chooses any labs you need. It does not publish prices for hormone care, the Whole Body Assessment or individual lab tests, though it says lab tests are priced up front. It accepts Medicare, private insurance and self-pay. It says consultations and most lab work are often covered by insurance, but it does not say whether hormone treatment is. There are no memberships or annual fees, and it does not say whether medication is included in any price. Cancel or reschedule with at least 24 hours' notice. A late cancellation or no-show may require a one-time prepayment before you can book again.

What should you ask before you book?

Ask whether the $99 covers only the conversation or also labs and prescriptions, since the clinic does not say. Ask what a full course of hormone treatment costs, including the medication, follow-up labs and any adjustments, and whether the medication is brand-name or compounded. Ask who writes and manages the prescription, since Dr. Briscoe is the only physician the clinic names. Ask how often follow-up labs are drawn and what each one costs. Ask whether your treatment would be covered by insurance, because the clinic leaves that open. Ask for the cancellation terms in writing before you pay anything.

Who is it a good fit for?

This is a good fit if you want a physician-led workup for hormone symptoms, or a primary care practice in Ridgeland or by telehealth, and you are ready to pay cash for what insurance does not cover. The clinic does not list weight loss medication or peptide therapy among its services, so if either is what you came for, ask before you book.
