About Longevity Maine

What is Longevity Maine?

Longevity Maine is a preventive and longevity practice at 144 Thadeus St, #1, South Portland, Maine. It runs on membership, with a physician, a dietitian and an exercise physiologist coordinating care around testing and monitoring. Ben Hagopian, MD, is the only physician named on the team, and he is its medical director. He is a board-certified family physician who founded his own direct primary care practice in 2020. Michael Leary, a cofounder, is an exercise physiologist and NSCA-certified strength and conditioning coach. Kim McDevitt, RD, MPH, is the lead dietitian. The practice offers longevity medical care, personalized nutrition, high-touch training and team-based care. A blog post by Dr. Hagopian says it prescribes hormone replacement therapy for women. Google shows a 5 rating from 9 reviews.

What does it cost?

The membership is $1399 a month. In its own words: "Our membership model means you pay the exact same amount every month for your treatment." It does not say whether that fee includes medication. The one-time evaluation is $7500, and the practice does not specify which of its listed tests and visits that price covers. The first conversation is a free consultation. It does not say whether it accepts insurance or HSA funds, or what the membership term and cancellation rules are. Extra testing and specialist referrals are communicated before care, but the practice does not publish what they cost.

What should you ask before you book?

Start with the prescriber. Ask whether Dr. Hagopian personally writes your prescriptions and who follows up with you between visits. Ask whether the $1399 includes any medication, and if you want hormone therapy, whether the drug is brand-name or compounded. Ask what labs, scans and follow-up visits cost beyond the membership. Ask what the $7500 evaluation includes, and whether the three 90-minute intake exams are covered. The clinic does not list weight loss medication or peptide therapy, so ask directly if you want either. Finally, ask about insurance, telehealth, office hours and how cancellation works. The phone number is 207 252 3530.

Who is it a good fit for?

This is a good fit if you want one physician, a dietitian and a trainer working from the same testing over time, and you are ready to pay a fixed monthly fee. Call first if you need insurance billing, weight loss medication or peptide therapy, since the clinic does not say it offers them.
