About Wild Heart Healthcare
What is Wild Heart Healthcare?
Wild Heart Healthcare is a sexual, reproductive and gender care practice at 7 Portland Farms Road in Scarborough, Maine, inside Root to Rise Physical Therapy. It sees patients in person there and by telehealth anywhere in Maine, Vermont, and New Hampshire. Its main work is sexual and reproductive health, with services that include contraceptive care, STI screening, menopause and perimenopause care, PrEP, PEP, problem visits and gender-affirming care.
Anna Mead, FNP-C, Alexis Nolan, CNM, and Katie Riley, CNM, WHNP, are the three named prescribers, and they co-founded the practice. Alexis Nolan is not accepting new patients. Google lists the clinic as a women's health clinic, with a rating of 5 from 7 reviews.
Of weight loss, hormone, peptide and longevity care, the clinic names only one hormone treatment: gender-affirming hormone treatment. It does not name weight loss, testosterone, peptide or longevity services, and it does not say which hormones it prescribes. In its own words: "we also provide gender-affirming hormone treatment and support for surgical procedures."
This listing is for its Scarborough office at 7 Portland Farms Road.
What does it cost?
Visits are priced per visit, and medication is not included. A new patient visit is a one-hour visit at $300, and every first-time patient needs one. A well person visit is 45 minutes for $225. Menopause and perimenopause care starts with a one-hour visit at $300, and follow-ups are 30 minutes at $150. Most other services are 30 minutes at $150, including contraceptive care, gender-affirming care, STI screening, simple problem visits, PrEP and procedure-only visits. Complex problem visits and PEP are one hour at $300.
In its own words: "Costs listed below do not include the price of labs or medications." The clinic does not publish prices for hormone treatment or medications. Labs can be drawn on site or sent to a lab you choose, and the clinic will tell you the lab cost before collection.
The clinic is cash pay only. It does not accept commercial insurance, Medicare or MaineCare, but it will provide documentation so you can ask your insurer for direct reimbursement.
What should you ask before you book?
Ask which of the three prescribers would write and manage your hormone prescription, and whether you would see the same person each time. Ask which hormones are prescribed, whether any medication is brand-name or compounded, and what the medication costs, since none of that is published. Ask what follow-up visits and lab work you will need, and what each costs.
Ask how cancellation and rescheduling work, and read the office policies before you book. Ask your insurer whether it reimburses out-of-network visits with the clinic's documentation before you pay. The clinic does not list hours, so call (701) 205-4921 to ask when you can reach them.
Who is it a good fit for?
This is a good fit if you want gender-affirming hormone care or sexual and reproductive visits, can pay per visit out of pocket, and want telehealth as an option in Maine, Vermont or New Hampshire. It is not the right fit if you are looking for weight loss medication, testosterone, peptide or longevity care, because the clinic does not name those services.
