About Maine Laser and Aesthetics,LLC,PA

What is Maine Laser and Aesthetics, LLC, PA?

Maine Laser and Aesthetics, LLC, PA is an aesthetic practice at 21B Northbrook Drive in Falmouth, Maine 04105, reached at (207) 805-8920. Most of its menu is cosmetic, from Botox and fillers to laser hair removal and tattoo removal. Bio-Identical Hormone Replacement Therapy is its only hormone service, and it is what this write-up covers.

The clinic names two prescribers, Dr. Geraldine Ollila and Amanda Robinson, and publishes no credentials for either beyond the title Dr. The hormone program is for people with symptoms the clinic lists, including fatigue, hot flashes, sleep disturbances, anxiety, depression and brain fog. It does not describe a weight loss program, although Google files the practice under weight loss.

Visits start with a detailed history and blood work drawn in the office. Patients then see one of the clinic's nurse practitioners to choose a plan. The clinic lists pills, creams, patches, pellets and, for men only, injections. Compounded hormones come from Hallandale Pharmacy and Anazao Health, which the clinic calls accredited compounding pharmacies. Listed hours run Monday 08:30-17:00, Tuesday 08:30-18:00, Wednesday 10:00-17:00, Thursday 08:30-17:00 and Friday 08:30-15:00.

What does it cost?

It does not publish prices, a consultation fee or an insurance policy, for hormone therapy or any other service. It does not say whether hormone medication is included in any price. Its menu also lists a service called MLA Direct Primary Care that the clinic does not explain.

For Latisse, an eyelash growth product it sells, the clinic's own words are: "Latisse® is a prescription product and requires a yearly visit with our physician to continue to purchase it from our office."

What should you ask before you book?

Ask which of the two named prescribers handles hormone patients and what credentials that person holds. The clinic mentions a nurse practitioner for hormone visits but does not name one, so ask who that is. Ask whether any monthly or program price includes the medication, and whether the product is an FDA-approved form or a custom compounded preparation. Ask what blood draws, follow-up visits and repeat lab work cost. Ask whether any part of the program can be done by telehealth, since the clinic does not say.

Ask about insurance, cancellation terms and what MLA Direct Primary Care covers. The clinic has written a long piece arguing that concerns about hormone replacement have been overstated. Ask the prescriber to walk you through the risks that apply to your own history.

Who is it a good fit for?

This is a good fit if you are comfortable paying cash without published prices, you want bloodwork done in the office, and you can get a clear answer on which prescriber treats you before you book. It is less suited to anyone who needs prices or telehealth before committing.
