What is Boulder Valley Health Center?
Boulder Valley Health Center is a reproductive and sexual health clinic at 2855 Valmont Road in Boulder, Colorado, and can be reached at (303) 442-5160. Its main work is abortion care, alongside birth control, STI testing and treatment, gynecologic care, cancer screening, pregnancy testing and wellness exams. It offers hormone therapy in two forms: menopause hormone replacement therapy, given as low-dose pills, skin patches, vaginal rings or localized estrogen for vaginal symptoms, and gender-affirming hormonal therapy. Weight loss, peptide therapy and longevity medicine are not among its services.
Medications named across its services include Plan B and PrEP. The clinic does not name the clinician who prescribes its hormone therapy. Hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00AM to 5:00PM, and Saturday, 8:30AM to 1PM, with Sunday closed. The third Wednesday of each month the clinic closes from 8 AM to 1 PM for staff meetings. Appointments are said to be available within a week, and online scheduling is open. Its Google listing shows a 4.4 rating from 317 reviews.
What does it cost?
It does not publish a price for hormone therapy, whether for the visit, the lab work or the medication. It does not say whether any consultation fee applies, or whether a monthly or package fee would cover medication. It accepts most major insurance plans, including Colorado Medicaid, and says some payment may still be due even with insurance. Without insurance, or if you choose not to use it, the clinic offers a cost estimate and a sliding scale fee based on income and family size. In its own words: "We can work with you to estimate the costs and make a plan to meet your needs." It does not mention HSA use or financing.
What should you ask before you book?
Start with the prescriber. Ask for the name and credentials of the clinician who will write your hormone prescription, and whether you will see the same person for follow-up. Then ask what the visit, the medication and any follow-up lab work cost, each one separately, and whether the medication is brand-name or compounded.
Ask how often follow-up visits happen and what they cost, whether telehealth is available, and how a plan is cancelled or refunded if you pay in advance. Bring your insurance card and ask for a written estimate before the first visit.
Who is it a good fit for?
This is a good fit if you want menopause hormone therapy or gender-affirming hormone care, or need reproductive and sexual health visits, and you want a clinic that takes insurance. It is not a fit if you are looking for medical weight loss, peptide therapy or longevity medicine.
