About Santa Cruz Integrative Medicine
What is Santa Cruz Integrative Medicine?
Santa Cruz Integrative Medicine is a cash-pay naturopathic practice at 740 Front St #130 in Santa Cruz, California. Its prescriber is Dr. Aimée Gould Shunney, a Naturopathic Doctor (ND) and Menopause Society Certified Practitioner (MSCP) who has practiced since 2001 and is licensed to practice medicine by the state of California. Front desk manager Glynis handles scheduling and billing.
The practice is mainly women's health and midlife care. In its own words: "My specialty is women’s health and midlife care including peri/menopause management, menstrual issues, vulvar & pelvic pain, painful sex, and bio-identical hormone balancing," and the practice also sees men. Dr. Shunney writes prescriptions, does physical exams including routine GYN care, and orders labs. Visits happen in person or by Zoom or phone. The office is open Monday through Thursday, 9a to 5p, with a midday lunch closure, and it is closed Friday through Sunday. The phone number is 831-465-9088. The practice has one Google review, rated 5.
What does it cost?
The New Patient Visit is 60 minutes for $450, paid in full at the appointment. The office does not bill any insurance companies directly, so this is a cash-pay practice. It does not publish a price for hormone therapy, and it does not say whether medication, labs or follow-up visits are included in the $450.
An optional membership costs $1100 a year, or $100 a month for 12 months ($1200). It adds portal access, priority scheduling and a 30-minute Annual Strategy Session ($200 value). The membership contract runs 12 months, does not allow early termination, and payments are non-refundable. Monthly payments are charged automatically, with no notice before each charge. Additional visits are $200 for 30 minutes or $400 for 60 minutes. Founding Members, the first 50 who sign up by December 1, 2026, lock in pricing for 2 years.
What should you ask before you book?
Ask whether the $450 visit covers the hormone prescription, the lab work and the follow-up visits, and what each costs on its own. Ask which hormone medications the practice prescribes, since it does not name them. Ask whether they are commercial products or compounded, and which pharmacy fills them. Ask how refills work, because the office directs refill requests to your pharmacy, which then asks the office for authorization.
Ask how often follow-up visits are needed in the first year and whether they can be done by Zoom or phone. If you are considering membership, ask how cancellation works, since the contract does not allow early termination and payments are non-refundable. Ask whether the office can provide a superbill you could submit to your own insurer.
Who is it a good fit for?
This is a good fit if you want a naturopathic doctor for women's midlife and hormone care, can pay in full at each visit without insurance, and are comfortable with a 12-month commitment if you choose membership. If you need a clinic that bills insurance or publishes hormone prices before you book, it may not be the right match.
