About Palm Springs Life Extension Institute

What is Palm Springs Life Extension Institute?

Palm Springs Life Extension Institute, also called PSLEI, is a cash-pay clinic at 2825 Tahquitz Canyon Way # A in Palm Springs, California. It has been serving patients since 1994, and its main focus is hormone therapy. Dr. Edmund Chein, M.D., MD, is the physician who prescribes, and he supervises each hormone plan throughout the year.

Its core program is Dr. Chein's Bio-Identical THRT, a total hormone replacement therapy program. It also offers a Naturopathic Consultation, Urinary Incontinence Treatment, Facial & Facelift and PRP Shot. The hormone program names human growth hormone, progesterone, estrogen and testosterone. It does not list weight loss medication or peptide therapy, and it does not publish hours.

It offers consultations in person or by video. In its own words: "Consultations can be done either In Office or via Skype." Medication refills can be ordered by phone, email or fax and shipped to you, so you do not need to travel to Palm Springs for every refill. Its Google listing shows a rating of 4 from 2 reviews.

What does it cost?

The consultation is $750, and follow-up consults are $125. Lab work arranged through the office costs $555 for a male panel or $650 for a female panel. Its FAQ lists the consultation at $1500 for Dr. Chein, which conflicts with the $750 in its THRT program, so confirm the figure before you book.

The clinic is cash only. In its own words: "We are a cash practice and not an insurance provider." It accepts cash, credit and debit cards, and Advance Care, and it points patients to Advance Care for health financing.

It does not publish prices for hormone medication or ongoing maintenance, and it does not say whether medication is included in the consultation fee. The program is indefinite and needs ongoing maintenance.

What should you ask before you book?

Ask which consultation fee applies, $750 or $1500, and whether it covers medication. Ask what the hormones and ongoing maintenance cost each month, since neither is published. Ask whether the hormones are brand-name or compounded. Ask who performs the Naturopathic Consultation, PRP Shot and facial treatments, and whether that person can prescribe. Ask what follow-up labs cost, including the IGF-1 test that is part of the full panel. Ask how cancellation works, because it does not publish cancellation terms. And ask what published clinical research supports its anti-aging claims. Jordan, the patient care coordinator, can explain how the program works at (760) 327-8939.

Who is it a good fit for?

This is a good fit if you want hormone therapy overseen by a physician, can pay cash, and are ready for an open-ended program with ongoing monitoring. It is less suited to anyone who needs insurance billing or is looking for weight loss medication or peptide therapy, since it does not list either.
