What is DESIPELL?
DESIPELL is a physician-run practice for bioidentical hormone pellet therapy, with offices in Montgomery and Prattville, Alabama. Joseph A. Desautels, MD, is the physician the clinic names. It offers three services: bioidentical hormone pellet therapy (BHRT), BHRT fused pellet implants and hormone pellets. The medications it names are estradiol and testosterone.
Pellets are placed in the office under local anesthesia. They go under the skin of the lower abdomen or the upper buttocks through a very small incision, which is closed with surgical glue or sterile-tape strips. For men, it says testosterone pellets may go into the sides of the waist.

Ask about the pharmacy too. It describes the pellets as most often made by special compounding pharmacies. Ask which pharmacy makes yours, and whether the hormone is compounded or a brand-name product.
Ask about testing and follow-up. Hormone testing comes before starting, and levels are rechecked before each new round of pellets. In its own words: "Based on existing hormone levels and health history, Dr. Desautels will make a hormone replacement recommendation." Ask what the testing, the follow-up visits and each new round of pellets cost.
Finally, ask whether the medication is in any price, whether insurance is taken, whether any visit can be done by telehealth, and how cancellation works. It does not publish hours either, so ask which office you would be booked at and when it is open.
Who is it a good fit for?
This is a good fit if you want pellet insertion done in an office by a named physician, you live in or near Montgomery or Prattville, and you are willing to get the full price, the medication details and the cancellation terms in writing before you pay anything. If those answers come back vague, it is worth calling another clinic.
