What is Southern Women's Specialists Gynecology & Aesthetics?
Southern Women's Specialists is a women's health practice at 7540 Cipriano Court C in Fairhope, Alabama, serving the Gulf Coast region. Its main focus is hormone therapy and intimate health, with gynecology and aesthetics alongside. Dr. Angela McCool Pearson and Dr. Christy J. Guepet are the prescribers. The practice has a 4.7 rating from 353 Google reviews.
Hormone replacement therapy (HRT) is the core service. The pages say HRT typically uses estrogen and progesterone, and sometimes testosterone, but the practice does not say which of these any given patient receives. It describes its HRT as compounded. Its intimate health and aesthetics services name FormaV, Morpheus8 and the O-Shot. Telemed appointments are available. It does not list weight loss or peptide therapy. In its own words: "Our doctors will conduct a thorough evaluation of your symptoms, medical history, and lifestyle factors to determine if hormone therapy is right for you."
Gynecology and aesthetics hours run Monday through Thursday, 8:00am to 4:30pm. On Fridays, only aesthetics is open, from 8:00am to noon.
What does it cost?
It does not publish prices or a consultation fee. It also does not say whether medication is included in any price. The first HRT visit includes lab work and a consultation with the physician. The practice's pages say: "Keep in mind that some insurance providers, not all, will pay for this initial visit however insurance does not cover compounded hormone replacement." So insurance may cover part of the first visit, but not the compounded hormone replacement itself.
What should you ask before you book?
Ask who writes your prescription, and whether you will see Dr. Pearson or Dr. Guepet at each visit. Ask whether the price you are quoted includes the medication, and what the compounded medication costs on its own. Ask which hormones the practice would recommend for your symptoms and which compounding pharmacy fills them.
Ask what the consultation fee is, whether the initial lab work is included, and what follow-up visits and repeat labs cost. Ask how often follow-up is needed, whether telemed visits cost the same as office visits, and how to stop care or cancel. If you may need to reach the gynecology team midweek, ask how Friday calls and texts are handled, since the practice says gynecology calls and texts received on Fridays are not returned until Monday afternoon.
Who is it a good fit for?
This is a good fit if you are in perimenopause or menopause, want hormone therapy from a practice that focuses on it, and are ready to pay for compounded medication out of pocket. New HRT patients are asked to take a short quiz first, so the practice can see whether your needs match its capacity. If you are looking for weight loss or peptide therapy, this practice does not list either, so it is not the right call for that.
