What is Optimal Weight Loss?
Optimal Weight Loss is a medical weight loss clinic at 501 Silverside Road, Suite 61, in Wilmington, Delaware. Tamica D'Aguiar founded it as Optimal Weight Loss Clinic, LLC, and she is the only prescriber the clinic names. She is ANCC Certified and graduated from Wilmington University's Adult Nurse Practitioner Program. She reports more than 25 years of healthcare experience, 18 of them in acute care hospitals. Visits are by appointment only. The phone number is 1-302-308-3404.
Weight loss is the core of the practice. The clinic prescribes appetite suppressants, naming phentermine and phendametrazine, and it offers weight loss injections, which it lists as compounded semaglutide and compounded tirzepatide. Its own footer says those two compounded medicines are not FDA approved. Other services include vitamin injections, with peptides such as MOTS-C and GOAL offered as optional add-ons, diet plans and nutrition coaching, body composition analysis on a biometric scale, and counseling with a licensed mental health provider. It also offers telehealth visits after an in-office assessment, in-home first visits for some clients with mobility problems or joint surgery ahead, and medication delivery to your home. It does not list hormone therapy. On Google it is rated 5 from 62 reviews.
What does it cost?
The clinic accepts Blue Cross/Blue Shield, United Healthcare, and Aetna commercial and federal plans. Everyone else pays cash. In its own words: "Otherwise, we are a cash pay practice, with monthly plans that will fit every budget." The first assessment is free. Visits are "as low as $69," and that price may include diet plans, nutrition education, weight scale measurements, one-on-one counseling, medical supervision, and prescriptions. It does not say whether medication is included in the $69. It does not publish injection or medication prices, the monthly plan price, or cancellation terms. Its Cash For Pounds program gives a $10 credit and a $35 credit, usable toward visits or vitamin or peptide injections. Its first-visit checklist includes an FSA or HSA card, but it does not say whether those cards can pay for visits.
What should you ask before you book?
Start with the medication. Ask whether the injections are compounded or brand-name, and which pharmacy fills them, since the clinic's footer says compounded semaglutide and tirzepatide are not FDA approved. Ask who signs your prescription and whether the $69 visit covers the medicine or only the visit. Ask for the monthly plan price, what it includes, and how to cancel or pause it.
Then ask about the rest. The clinic does not mention the cost of follow-up visits or lab work, so ask for both. It names no states for telehealth, so ask whether it can see you by video where you live. The posted hours are not consistent, so confirm the days you need before you book.
Who is it a good fit for?
This is a good fit if you want a nurse practitioner to lead weight loss care in person or by video, you will pay cash or use one of the three listed insurance plans, and you are comfortable confirming the type of medication before you pay. It does not list hormone therapy, so settle that question with the clinic before you book.
