What is Avena Natural Health?
Avena Natural Health is a naturopathic clinic with one office at 435 South Cedros Ave, Suite 304, in Solana Beach, California. Its prescribers are Dr. Laura Kostrzewski, ND, and Dr. Tere Memun, ND, both listed as co-founders and owners. The pages give Dr. Kostrzewski a doctorate in Naturopathic Medicine from Bastyr University California, received in June of 2019. The weight loss page offers a $20 Introductory Call With A Doctor. The same page also describes a free 15-minute discovery call with one of the doctors. Those two offers conflict, so confirm which one you would be booking before you pay.
What should you ask before you book?
Start with the price. Does the $299 a month include the medication, and if not, what does the medication cost? Is the semaglutide, tirzepatide or liraglutide brand-name or compounded, and who makes it? Who signs the prescription, Dr. Kostrzewski, Dr. Memun or someone else? What do follow-up visits and lab work cost?
Can visits be done by video? One patient review mentions a telemedicine meeting, but the clinic does not state it as an option. For peptides, which ones are prescribed, and are they FDA-approved products or compounded? How do memberships work, and how do you cancel? Who is it a good fit for?
This is a good fit if you want weight loss, hormone or peptide care from a naturopathic practice in one Solana Beach office, and you are ready to pay out of pocket once you have the full monthly cost in writing. It is a weaker fit if you need weekend appointments, since the office is closed Saturday and Sunday.
