About New Wave Medicine

What is New Wave Medicine?

New Wave Medicine is a direct primary care and functional medicine practice with offices in Renton and Burien, Washington. Alongside primary care, it sells specialty services that cash-paying patients often ask about: medical weight management, hormone replacement therapy, peptide therapy, NAD+ protocols, IV therapy and ketamine treatment. The weight programs use GLP medications named as semaglutide, tirzepatide and retatrutide, and one detox program uses HCG injections. Hormone care covers menopause, low testosterone and thyroid management. The clinic names Dr. Bita Shakib as its prescriber and does not state her credentials.

The peptide menu is long, with many single peptides and several blends. In its own words: "Our clinic offers a wide range of peptide therapies designed to support your health, recovery, performance, and longevity goals." Google lists the clinic at a 4.9 rating from 125 reviews.

What does it cost?

The 12-week weight program, called The Reset Protocol, is listed at $1950. That price includes GLP medication, 3 physician follow-ups and monthly nutrient injections. A medication-only route starts with a $200 initial physician intake, and medication is priced by dose and month. Semaglutide runs from $300 in month 1 to $600 in month 5. Tirzepatide runs from $400 in month 1 to $950 in month 6. Retatrutide runs from $500 in month 1 to $950 from month 4. In-clinic weekly injection visits are $25 each, with medication billed separately.

Hormone care without a membership starts with an intake and HRT protocol of 2 visits, at $450 for non-members or $350 for Aesthetic or Reset members. A 45-minute follow-up is $225 for non-members and $175 for members. Direct Primary Care members get hormone and thyroid visits at no additional cost, but the membership fee is not published. The HCG-assisted program is $1,499 for non-members, and the Regenerative Detox and Prolon program is $900 for non-members. Peptide prices are not published. The clinic offers a financing option. It does not state whether insurance is accepted, and it does not describe cancellation terms.

What should you ask before you book?

Ask who signs each prescription and what credentials Dr. Shakib holds. Ask whether the $1950 covers all 12 weeks, and which GLP medication you will receive, since the provider chooses it at consultation. Ask whether the medications and peptides are brand-name or compounded, and who supplies them. Ask whether the monthly medication price is the full cost, and what the total comes to over a full course.

Ask what lab work and extra visits cost, and what the optional prescription support listed in the detox programs costs, since no price is given. Ask whether any visit can be done by video, because telehealth is not described. Ask whether insurance is accepted, whether HSA or FSA funds can be used, and how cancellation and refunds work if you stop early.

Who is it a good fit for?

This is a good fit if you want cash-pay weight management or hormone care from a clinic with offices in Renton and Burien, and you are willing to get prescriber credentials, medication sourcing and cancellation terms in writing before you pay. If you need published peptide prices or insurance billing, you will have to ask for both directly.
