About Eastside Menopause & Metabolism

What is Eastside Menopause & Metabolism?

Eastside Menopause & Metabolism is a direct care practice focused mainly on perimenopause and menopause, with weight and metabolic care offered alongside. Dr. Komal Patil-Sisodia, MD, DABOM, MSCP, is the only prescriber named, and the practice describes her as triple board-certified in internal medicine, endocrinology and obesity medicine. It reports 17+ years of practice. In-person visits are listed in Redmond and Kirkland, Washington, though the Kirkland address is not published. Telehealth is open to patients physically in Washington or California. Google lists it as a medical clinic with a rating of 5 from 4 reviews.

Visits come in four types: an Initial Consultation, a Returning Patient Initial Visit for people seen by Dr. Patil-Sisodia within 3 years at another location, a Follow-Up Visit, and a Second Opinion Consultation. In its own words: "Evidence-based prescribing of hormone therapy and other treatments, tailored to your physiology, risk profile, and preferences." Treatment plans, with prescriptions where indicated, come out of these visits.

What does it cost?

The practice takes cash only and does not bill insurance. An Initial Consultation is $450 for up to 60 minutes. A Returning Patient Initial Visit is $350 for 45 minutes, and a Follow-Up Visit is $250 for up to 30 minutes. A Second Opinion Consultation is $550 for up to 60 minutes and includes no lab orders or prescriptions. It does not publish prices for hormone therapy or weight care themselves, and it does not say whether medication is included in any visit fee.

A superbill is provided for out-of-network reimbursement, and HSA and FSA accounts are accepted. Medicare, Medicaid and Tricare are not accepted. Cancellations more than 24 hours ahead are fully refunded. Later cancellations carry a $75 fee, and no-shows are charged 50% of the visit fee.

What should you ask before you book?

Ask whether anyone besides Dr. Patil-Sisodia writes prescriptions, since she is the only one named. Ask whether medication is part of any visit fee or billed separately, and whether the drugs are brand-name or compounded, because neither is published. Ask what lab work and follow-up cost after the 30 days of portal follow-up that come with an initial visit. Ask when payment is charged, since it is described as due at scheduling in one place and at the start of a virtual visit in another. Ask which office your visit will be in.

Who is it a good fit for?

This is a good fit if you are paying cash for perimenopause or menopause care, want one physician to look at hormones and weight together, and are ready to ask about medication and lab costs before you pay. It is a poor fit if you need Medicare, Medicaid or Tricare to cover the visit.
