What is MCC?
MCC is a federally qualified health center. It receives federal funding and serves patients regardless of income or insurance. Its core is primary care, with dental, mental and behavioral health, and women's health care alongside. It also offers children's health, a pharmacy, sexual health and HIV care, and addiction medicine and harm reduction.
Hours and what is available are set by each office, so ask the one you plan to visit. It does not list weight loss, testosterone, peptide or longevity care among its services. A 2023 news item covers its hormone and gender-affirming care clinic, but it does not describe hormone therapy among its services and does not name a prescriber for hormone care.
What does it cost?
It does not publish prices for any service. It accepts most private health insurance plans, along with Medicare and Medicaid, and recommends checking your plan before a visit so you know your fees will be covered. Patients can pay by cash, check, Visa, MasterCard or Amex, by phone or through MyChart, and a payment plan can be arranged for the remaining balance.
Its Sliding Fee Discount Program adjusts costs by income and family size. You provide proof of income and reapply every six months. Insured patients may be eligible to reduce their deductibles. In its own words: "No one is turned away or denied service due to an inability to pay for services."
What should you ask before you book?
Ask whether hormone therapy is offered at the office you plan to visit, and which clinician prescribes it. Ask whether any weight loss, peptide or longevity care is available at all, since offices may differ.
Ask what a visit costs, and whether the fee includes lab work, follow-up visits and any medication. Its menu lists a Telehealth section, so ask what that covers and whether a visit can be done remotely. Finally, ask whether the Sliding Fee Discount applies to the service you want, and how to stop care if you decide to leave.
Who is it a good fit for?
This is a good fit if you want primary care, dental or women's health care, or a clinic that adjusts its fees to your income. It makes less sense if you are looking for a weight loss, peptide or longevity program, since none appears among its services.
