What is SunCoast Optimal Wellness?
SunCoast Optimal Wellness is a functional and integrative medicine practice at 230 Harbor Village Lane in Apollo Beach, Florida. It calls itself a primary care and concierge medical clinic, and Google files it under medical spa. Its main services are weight management, hormone and thyroid optimization, testosterone replacement and peptide therapy. It also offers in-house lab testing, IV infusion therapy, vitamin injections, red light therapy, acoustic wave therapy, detox programs and care for fluoroquinolone (Cipro and Levaquin) toxicity.
Three people are named as prescribers: Heather Slusher, APRN, FNP-BC, the founder and owner; Dr. Christopher L. Van Benschoten M.D; and Ashley Wheeler, APRN, FNP-C, MSN. Semaglutide, sold as Wegovy, is part of the weight loss plan. You can book in-office visits, or telemedicine and phone appointments. Hours are Monday through Friday, 9:30 am to 5 pm. Google reviews give the practice a 4.9 rating from 34 reviews.
What does it cost?
It does not publish prices for weight loss, hormone or peptide care. It does not say whether medication is included in any program. The only price-related item listed is a free consultation. On insurance, it does not say whether it accepts any plan. Instead, it asks patients to call (813) 645-2003 to talk through their current policy. It does not publish membership terms, cancellation rules, or any mention of HSA use or financing.
What should you ask before you book?
Start with the total. Ask what a month of weight loss care costs in full, and whether that includes the medication. Since semaglutide is part of the plan, ask whether you would receive brand-name Wegovy or a different form, and who supplies it.
Ask who writes each prescription and whether you will see the same prescriber at each visit. For peptide care, ask which peptides are prescribed, how they are sourced and what they cost each month. Ask what follow-up visits and lab work cost too. The practice offers GI, food sensitivity, organic acid, mold toxicity and seasonal allergy testing, so ask which of those would be part of your care and what each one costs.
In its own words: "Each medically supervised weight loss treatment plan is customized to the individual needs of our patients." Ask what that customization does to the price.
Finally, ask whether the office bills your insurance, whether you sign a membership agreement, and how you cancel.
Who is it a good fit for?
This is a good fit if you are paying cash for weight, hormone or peptide care, want some visits by phone or video, and will get the full price in writing before you commit. It is a weaker fit if you need published prices or a clear list of what each monthly fee covers before you call.
