About Busybird Medical Weight Loss

What is Busybird Medical Weight Loss?

Busybird Medical Weight Loss is a medical weight loss practice in Denver, Colorado, at 3070 Blake St. #140, in the courtyard of Backyard on Blake. Its main service is medical weight loss, with most of the first steps done by video. It also offers testosterone and hormone replacement therapy, NAD+ injections and lipotropic injections. The phone number is (720) 370-3909. The practice has posted a notice that it is now called Cultivate Primary Care and will offer the same services plus more.

The weight loss program starts with a 1 hour virtual appointment, then a plan chosen with the patient, then labs. The practice names phentermine, topamax, metformin, contrave, phendimetrazine and diethylproprion as medications it may use. In its own words: "We offer a variety of effective weight loss medications that will be chosen based on patient's habits, goals and needs." No prescriber is named on its pages. Google lists it as a weight loss service with 14 reviews averaging 4.8.

What does it cost?

The Silver Subscription is $199 a month, recurring. It includes a 30 day supply of oral medication shipped to your home, 2 telehealth visits a month and a free initial consultation ($100 value). The Platinum Subscription starts at $99 a month, recurring. It includes a 30 day prescription of brand-name GLP-1 medication sent to a local pharmacy, 1 telehealth visit a month with unlimited portal messages, and free consultation. Labs are required before starting. An at-home weekly injection by the provider adds $25 a month. The practice says the medication cost depends on dosing and pharmacy supply. It does not say whether the monthly price includes the medication itself. Both subscriptions require 30 days cancellation.

Without a subscription, the initial consultation is $100 for a 60 minute visit. Lipotropic injections are $35 each and NAD+ injections are $85 each. For hormone care, the initial visit is $250, one time, including labs and interpretation. That drops to $150 if you bring labs drawn within the past 3 months. Testosterone or hormone replacement is $150 a month after that, with medication sent to your home and labs every 3 months. Current Direct Primary Care patients get discounts. The practice does not say whether it accepts insurance.

What should you ask before you book?

Ask who writes the prescriptions and what their credentials are, since no prescriber is named. Ask whether the $99 or $199 monthly fee includes the medication, and what the GLP-1 will cost each month at the dose you need. Ask whether the oral medications are brand-name or compounded, and which pharmacy fills them. Ask what labs cost beyond the initial visit, because labs are required every 3 months for hormone care. Ask whether any visit or lab work is billed to insurance. Ask the office hours, since none are listed. Ask how the 30 day cancellation works and whether any money is refunded. Ask whether the consultation is free or $100, since the pages show both. Finally, ask whether your care would move to Cultivate Primary Care and what changes for your current plan.

Who is it a good fit for?

This is a good fit if you are paying cash, want most of your visits by video, and are comfortable confirming the prescriber, the monthly costs and the medication terms before you book. If you need a named prescriber or posted office hours before you commit, get those answers first.
