About Willow Medical
What is Willow Medical?
Willow Medical is a hormone therapy practice based in San Diego that specializes in menopause and perimenopause. It offers telemedicine consults to patients across all of California. Its legal terms give a street address of 8898 Navajo Rd C304, San Diego, CA 92119, but it does not say whether patients are seen in person there.
Cassie Ruth, NMD, founded the practice and is its named prescriber. She completed a 4-year medical program at Bastyr University, then worked for 7 years as a primary care provider in an integrative family medicine practice in San Diego before opening Willow Medical.
In its own words: "We only prescribe bioidentical hormones which are available as topical creams, patches, and oral pills." It does not name specific medications, and it does not name any weight loss, peptide or longevity service.
What does it cost?
The initial consult is $200 for 30 to 60 minutes. A follow-up is $110 for up to 30 minutes. Refills require a follow-up every 6 months. The typical patient, it says, has an initial consult, a follow-up 4 to 8 weeks later, and then a follow-up every 6 months.
It says the average woman pays $35 to $50 a month for hormone therapy, and that pricing depends on pharmacy, dose and type. It does not say whether that figure includes the medication. It does not require a monthly membership.
Labs are priced per test. Estradiol is $13.45, progesterone $13.95 and testosterone $24.95. The lab draw fee is $12.95, and draws can be done at any Quest location. These lab prices were last updated 5/8/25.
What should you ask before you book?
Ask whether it bills insurance. It says insurance may cover prescriptions, but it does not say whether it bills insurance itself.
Ask whether the $35 to $50 a month includes the medication, and which pharmacy fills it.
Ask whether the hormones are brand-name or compounded.
Ask whether the $200 consult and $110 follow-up apply to telemedicine visits, and whether any labs ordered at the consult are billed on top.
Ask about cancellation. It does not publish cancellation terms. It also does not publish hours, so ask when visits are available.
Its services list also includes therapy, coaching, psychiatry and acupuncture. Ask whether it actually offers any of these.
Who is it a good fit for?
This is a good fit if you are looking for menopause or perimenopause hormone therapy, can meet by video from California, and want the medication, lab and follow-up costs confirmed in writing before you book. It is not the match if you came for weight loss, peptide or longevity care, since none of those are named.
