About AVISTA Weight Loss Center

What is AVISTA Weight Loss Center?

AVISTA Weight Loss Center is a medical practice in Gilbert, Arizona, with more than one office in town. Medically supervised weight loss is its main focus. It also offers hormone therapy, family medicine, immunotherapy and medical memberships, which it describes as direct primary care.

Punya Raman, M.D., is a board-certified family doctor and bariatric physician with over 30 years of clinical experience. She has been AVISTA's medical director since 2011. Brian Allen, PA, is also a prescriber. Google shows a 4.9 rating from 20 reviews.

The weight loss program names semaglutide as its medication and also lists a program called Trizapetide. The Good Life program is an 18-month program for patients who need to lose 25 pounds or more, and AVISTA pairs it with a "Keep-It-Off Guarantee." For hormone therapy, AVISTA offers bioidentical hormone replacement for women and testosterone replacement for men.

This listing is for its Gilbert office at 690 E Warner Rd #135.

What does it cost?

Customized 4-week weight loss programs start at $299.99. AVISTA does not say whether that price includes medication. The first weight loss consultation is free. The Good Life program comes with a free Garmin Venu 2/2S smartwatch, listed at a $349.99 value, but no price for Good Life itself is published. Men over 35 can receive one free LOW-T test every 12 months.

AVISTA does not say whether it accepts insurance or HSA funds. It lists no financing and no cancellation or commitment terms for its weight loss programs. No membership price is published.

What should you ask before you book?

Ask who signs your prescription, Dr. Raman or Brian Allen, and who you will see at each visit.

Ask whether the $299.99 includes medication, and if so, which one. AVISTA names semaglutide and also lists Trizapetide, so ask which you would be on. Ask whether the medication is brand-name or compounded. AVISTA says its hormones are processed by a specialty compounding pharmacy, so ask the same question about any hormone prescription.

Ask what follow-up visits and lab work cost. Standard programs include biweekly physician appointments and weekly coaching, but no visit fees are listed. AVISTA also lists full blood analysis with EKG, B12 injections and lipotropic injections, so ask which of those are in the price.

Read the guarantee closely. In its own words: "The guarantee requires patient compliance with program guidelines." Ask for the written terms, what compliance means, and what happens if you fall short.

AVISTA lists "No Contracts" among its features but gives no cancellation terms. Get them in writing before you pay, and ask whether the 18-month Good Life program is a commitment. Also ask whether follow-up visits can be virtual, and whether AVISTA bills insurance at all.

Who is it a good fit for?

This is a good fit if you plan to pay cash, want physician-led weight loss or hormone care from a doctor with over 30 years of clinical experience, and will get prices and cancellation terms in writing before you sign. If you are looking for peptide therapy or longevity medicine, AVISTA does not name either, so ask about them first.
